We all know the fel pro HG wont hang well past stock (some say yay some say nay), and I guess Federal Mogul realized that too. Check it out...

Well, I just thought Id throw that out there. Personally, I dont want to go over the 350 whp mark, so Im just going to use the oem mitsu hg. Which as a matter of fact, can be found at this site for $41.64 vice the $68-$75 you get it for at a dealership parts counter.

That site also has some of the best prices on simple OEM stuff, like the lower timing belt cover that "fell" apart on me pulling the head the other day :tease:

I run felpro with arp headstuds 15-17lbs daily no problems so far at all, I was iffy on it but the reviews with people that actually HAVE a fel pro were great.
 
The FelPro OEM style gaskets aren't good for more than 18psi in the long term. They have weaker firing rings than OEM Mitsu. I ran 20psi daily for over a year on one before the firing ring slowly worked its way over to one of the coolant passages and it was a goner.

The MLS gaskets might be ok.

I HAVE changed out blown ones in favor of OEM mitsu's. So far they have held great under the same conditions.

And thats why Im going with the OEM mitsu, doesnt cost an arm and a leg, and performs great for what I want. :thumb:

I don't want to start another "Fel-pro Headgasket" War thread.

But I've been using Fel-Pro gaskets for years now, on N/A and Turbo cars, and to this day I've NEVER had a problem with these.
Currently I have one on my eclipse also with ARP head studs, and even without ARP's I have yet to blow one, granted I'm not running a 50 trim, nor im saying they're the BEST HG ON THE MARKET, but its not as bad as people say it is, a good installation is the key for good performace on any part.

Make sure you're head and the block are in good/clean shape before install, check for any warpage with a feeler gauge, use sequential torque 30 - 50 - 75 ft/lb torque or whatever final torque you decide to use, and I don't see why the thing should fail.
 
All my domestic guys use them. The best example I can think of is my buddy Mark who has a S-10 with a 355 w/ 150 shot (who just broke 10's this weekend! Mad props!) and he runs a Fel-pro HG. Maybe it just works better on V8's! :D
