is there a difference between the fwd and awd ecu's? i found a awd ecu that i want to use, but my car is fwd. will that make a difference?

Please update your profile. Without knowing what generation car you have the best answer your going to get is no, there isn't enough different between the FWD and AWD ECU's to make a difference. But there are lots of other issues that might crop up depending on what year car and transmission type.

The 2 ECUs that will work without changing pinouts are 5903 AWD or 8625 FWD.The bracket that attaches it to the kick panel is different though. There are others that you can also use with changed pinouts. I've heard that there is a slight difference AWD and FWD ECUs,but I've never been able to feel a difference though.

To run an ECU with a different pinout you would have to swap wires around in the connector to the ECU.

With the 90 DSM's you need to be sure you get the same model year... The connectors changed in later years... Go with the part numbers he gave you above and you should be ok. :thumb:
