So ever since I did a Auto>5 Speed conversion on my Talon, i have had non stop problems with the transmission braking bolts, and mount pulling out of the transmission so trans fell which broke more bolts, and all sorts of problems (that's what happend the last and final time) and it wasn't from abuse because I would be so gental on it it would just happen in between shifts, even at low rpms. not sure what caused the trans mount to just rip right out of the transmission, the bolts were nice and tight, not stripped or anything. (I went ahead and retapped them. Size I used was M12X1.25)
Finally I got fed up with all the problems., and installed this
excuse the axle grease i had a boot tare on me, i replaced the axle and just haven't cleaned off grease yet.
Note: the bowing of the bar is mostly its shape and it is sturdy i assure you.
its a metal bar that came from the front bumper of my old BMW (not sure what kind of metal). amazingly it bolted right on to a spot on the H-frame or which ever its called, and a spot behind the passengerside control arm. didn't have to do any drilling or tapping of any sort. I went head and tack welded (MIG) the the bar along with the bolt to help prevent it from coming off just in case.. I'm probably going to redrill this one and use larger, stronger bolt just for comfort, and probably add a second bolt. the one in the front right now is a 12mm M8X1.25, and the one in the back is a 14mm M10X1.25
I've had it on for about a week now, and so far I still have not had any issues, and I can actually drive the car harder. torture tested it by doing rough downshifts, and shifting hard at high rpms. (this isn't how I normally Drive I promise!!!) so far nothing is broken.
I'm going to buy another Bar about twice as thick that I can install or something I can weld to it for added strangth\support. but for now it's working great.
I'm a member of the SCCA so this car will participate in track days and autoX on a regular basis so I have to make sure it will hold up
(Will Update)
