Alright.. I will start by saying first check out my profile and my mods.. Second off I have all supporting mods for all the parts I have done.. Im currently finishing my motor build... I completed all of the stage 0, stage 1, and stage 2 mod.. (except clutch.. I'm waiting to recieve clutch and flywheel now).. Any other little tips or tricks to help oil pressures, or fuel feed, ect?... I mean I came across a couple myself (anodized my fmic white since powder coating affects the air cooling properties.. Header wrapped my exhaust to the cat, and all of my intercooler piping.. All the little things that seem pointless but'll make the difference... I'm trying to achieve a single digit 1/4 mile time out of a 90 gst while keeping it somewhat streetable...

Any other little tips?

Powder Coating your FMIC will make it perform worse. You are making it harder for the air to transfer its heat through the core to the ambient air by adding resistance ot the heat transfer. Look up heat exchangers and fouling factors this will explain exactly what I am talking about.

You should do some calculations and see how hot the air coming out of your turbo/intercooler are. If it is hotter then a nomral engine bay temperature then it should not be heat wrapped becasue you are actually keeping the air charge hotter then it needs to be. Temperature always flows from hotter to cooler, so if the air post turbo is hotter then the air in the engine bay, heat is going to flow from the air post turbo to the air in the engine bay, thus cooling the intake air a very small amount but still cooling it at least.

You should probably try to read up a little on heat transfer, that will help to explain what I just said. Hope this helps.

I don't think you know what you're getting yourself into. 'Stage 0, stage 1, and stage 2 mod..' with 60-1 turbo is going to be far from the single digits 1/4 mile. In order to get single digit you'll need a fully built stage 4 or 5 engine along with racing fuel system, big turbo, probably a stroker and above all you'll need a performance transmission along with a race clutch. My guess is that you'll be is the mid-high 11s with a 60-1 turbo.
 
Well I didnt change my profile yet cause i forgot to.. :notgood: But i just finished building my 2.1l and im in process of desiding which turbo to go with.... And im waiting for a couple of quotes for the shep tranny i want :thumb:.. Long story short.. Hense why I asked if there were any other hits or tricks..


And just to just.. If you re-read my post.. I said that powder coating it was the worse of the two.. Hense anodizing..
 
There have been many who have hit high low 11's with a 50-trim. With a 60-1 they possibilities are higher and closer to your single digit quest. It is all about your tune. Good Luck
 
I don't think you've grasped the concept yet. Do you understand what it takes to get to a 9 second pass? Seriously, do you really think that a 60-1 is going to lay down the power needed to power your car to a 9 second pass? I'm not saying it's not doable but it's not easily accomplished. What are you using for engine management (dsmlink, EMS, Haltech, ?).. What fuel pump are you running (A1000, twin 255's?), what clutch are you getting (twin disc from PTT, Quarter Master twin iron disc?) How much time have you invested into getting your car prepared for the safety side of things? What type of suspension mods do you plan on doing? Are you going with a NOS system? Why would you anodize the FMIC ? Are any of your parts cyro treated? I'm not saying that you can't do it or am trying to discourage you, but please don't think your just going to build a motor and transmission and think your going to go out and run a 9 second pass. I'm running 32 psi on a PTE 6152e and I'm only into the 11's, my car is awd too.
 
As far as to your last comment.. Like I said i havent updated my parts list yet because there's certain things I havent recieved yet, hense why I can't add them.. But do you really think anyone hitting 9's on a g60-1?.. mid to low 10's all day is what that turbo can do (from what i've seen w/ supporting mods) and thats on a stock 2.0l block... So how are you gunna tell me 10's isn't possible?... And do you really think that if i'm running a 2.1l I'd be going with a mid sized turbo like that?.. It becomes a hair dryer at around 8000 rpms give or take.. What's that gunna do for me at 10,000k+ rpms?...

as far as suspension I have kyb's w/ skunk springs (i only found them for 2g's, but they were cut and fit on my car) btw I will be posting pictures of that because i dont believe it myself.. The springs were cut and the car sits as low as gravity will take it.. But yet the kyb's arent blown.. Long story short, w/ the 60-1 and a couple of other things, no matter what I did there was no wheel hop and I hooked hard.. So why change it till I have too.. (btw this wasnt my doing, I bought the car like this)..

Nitrous.. its called a 100 w/ meth at the moment.. Thinking about 150 shot depending on how well the tune goes :thumb:

Oh and by the way obviously somebody didnt read my profile cause it tells you most of the stuff you looking for..

And why anodize?.. I hate chrome personally, too tacky.. So since you shouldnt powder coat your fmic, anodize it.. Why would you want a big ol' chrome thing in front of your car?.. Atleast IMO..
 
I never said anything about 10's. I have never seen a stock block go 10's either. I never said you or anyone else for that matter can't run a 10 second pass on a 60-1. I'm not sure what your talking about as far as the 60-1 being a hair drier at 8K, or even 10K, every turbo's discharged air is hot, that's what happens when you compress air. How was I supposed to know you were going with a bigger turbo? Also you said and I quote "And do you really think that if i'm running a 2.1l I'd be going with a mid sized turbo like that?" ... well if your going for a 9 second pass I would hope your looking to at least run a t3 set up. Never know though... All you ever stated was that your deciding on a turbo. Your profile doesn't say a word about a clutch, not a word about a roll cage, not a word about cyro treating, not a word about nitrous, not a word about meth. injection, it doesn't say anything about your fuel set up other then a fuel gauge and a "full fuel system". I did read your profile, thats why I asked about those things. The only thing I saw in your profile that I shouldn't have posted about was the engine management possibly, and the other reason I asked about that was because I wasn't sure if you were keeping it or swapping it out for an AEM / Haltech / Etc. And I still don't know why your saying you want to anodize your FMIC. Anodizing has nothing to do with powder coating or chrome / nickel plating. Got some more questions for you...

What turbo are you using?
What clutch and flywheel?
What injectors?
Whats included in this "full fuel system"?
What safety equipment does your car have?
How many track passes do you have under your belt?
What tire / wheel combo are you using for this "single digit pass" ?
What 1/2 shafts are in your car?

My guess is that you don't know what your getting yourself into. I mean if you "can't update your profile" or at least tell us some simple things (like your turbo selection, clutch and fuel set ups, and what safety equipment you have or at least plan on installing), how are we supposed to help you out with what you want to know. I'm not trying to put you down man, I'm just saying help us so we can help you.....
