Ok tell me if this setup sounds good. And am i leaving anything out. If anybody has pictures of there setup and were everthing goes I would like to see. I have a 96 gs 420a

Walbro 255l fuel pump kit
obx fuel rail
fcd (fuel cut defender)
PTE 680cc injectors
Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator
Vortech 12:1 FMU
Apexi AFC Neo
SS fuel lines and fittings
Fuel pressure gauge

for the SS fuel lines where can i get the colored fittings.
I found the fuel return line kit and fuel feed kits at slowboys. Is that all i should need?
I'm not real sure where some of the stuff goes. I know where the fuel pump, injectors, fuel rail goes. But from what i've read the FMU goes between the fuel rail and the return line? The FPR goes between the fuel feed and fuel rail? Where does the fuel pressure gauge sending unit go? Even though i'm not boosted YET i was told i could go ahead and run this.

Looks good so far. For fuel lines go to www.jegs.com or summitracing.com . That is where I get most of my custom fabrication parts. One thing you must remember is that you will need rubber cushioned clamps for every foot of fuel line. Depending on the size hose depends on what size clamp you get.

I fabricated my whole fuel system with a size 8an feed and size 6 an return line. I don't exactly remember the size clamps I used but it is important that you use them and not just zip ties.

Not sure which fuel system i have I looked at the fuel rail i only seen one fuel line going into the fuel rail on the driverside and i followed it and i went under the car but from the fuel rail tell it went under the car there was no fuel filter or anything on the line. When i have more time and it's a little warmer outside i'll look under the car.

Select your fuel system from below...

PAUL, His avatar says he has a 95 eclipse so I'm going to assume he has the one on the top left hand side. With the FPR connected to the rail. Maybe why he bought the new fuel rail?. Who knows, but anyway I dont see how hes going to run those injectors at idle. They are too big.

No offense but for the price of this:
Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator with fittings $175
Vortech 12:1 FMU $80
Apexi AFC Neo $300
----------------------------------------
$555.00 and this still wont work.

Your halfway to buying This:
Portfueler complete kit with fpr. $1041.40 (and if you call them they will give you free shipping if you ask)

It sounds like you have the late style fuel system if there's only one line going into the fuel rail.

If you're going all out with SS lines and new fittings, then you might as well go with configuration #1. You'll need to remove the Schraeder valve in the test port on the fuel rail, and run your return line from there.

If you just want to keep the stock lines for now, you can get away with configuration #2; which basically just involves splicing the FMU in the return line.

Yeah, but he said it's a '96 GS with only one line going to the fuel rail...

I'm sorry i totally missed that. I also have a 96 gs that was built in nov 95, and I have the Late style fuel sytem.

The car in my avatar is my old eclipse it was a 95 but i just bought this 96 gs. And why will it not work? My engine is stock for now so i'm probably going to run 8lb and then when my engine goes and I rebuild it. I'll probably go to 15 or 20. And for the injectors that is what somebody told me to run. How big should I go?

Most people dont seem to go over 440's on the 420a unless they go with msns or portfueler or the 8 inj setup. The reason is Even with an S-FMU and an SAFC its hard to get an idle with anything larger than 440's.

I say contact hahn racecraft. They pretty much pioneered turbocharging N/T DSMs. Talk to them, see what they say. If it sounds good to you then, by all means follow what they say. Its better to do it right the first time and spend the extra cash then, to have something screw up and do it all over again.

He has all the info he needs on these forums really.

BTW: How do you plan on using both the 12:1 FMU and the aeromotive 1:1 FPR in conjuction with each other?

Here and 2GNT... Hahn made a lot of initial developments, but so much more has been done by many other talented individuals and companies.

You Guys are both right. I hope I didn't come across as misleading. Hahn racecraft is the only company I would personally trust for that matter. Thats why I recommended for him to contact the previously mentioned company.

I just think Hahn has a pretty good track record for turbocharging n/t's. Like I said, its just my opinion. If you think about it, they do take alot of guess work out of turbocharging the 420a. The portafueler system for one I think was one of their great inovations and some of the other products they sell.

I don't know many GSX or GST owners that would go to hahn for our stuff but, for N/t's it seems like the place to go because of how much effort they put into their products and product development.

So will the 440cc injector handle 15psi of boost. And what is the size of our stock injectors? What will the fmu and afpr not work together? I had another form asking what mods i could go ahead and they told me to fuel upgrade. And they told me to run a fmu then somebody told me i need to run a afpr with a 255 pump. So what should i do? I'm wanting to keep my car a everyday driver but still hold my own. And i want to thank everyone for there input.

Heres my advice to you. First when you say psi? that doesn't mean too much to me unless you state the actual specs on your turbo/type of turbo at the time. You see when you have a standard 14b pushing 15psi and a S20g pushing 15psi, the CFM or air bieng forced into your engine isn't even comparable.

As far as your fuel setup goes this is what would recommend.

1. SFMU (awesome deal here)--> http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=16&topic_id=103716&mode=full

2. Walbro 255
3. rc or accel 440's
4. 6an SS fuel lines with the screw in earls type 6an fuel filters.
5. one of terrys fuel rails 6an from 2gnt (i saw one go for 60 bucks the other day)

(buy all that used over the next few weeks on 2gnt, and you will have not spent alot of money and have great fuel system capabilities.)

sfmu (200 used)
walbro 255 (50 barely used)
440's (used 100)
6an lines (used 75)
6an fuel rail by terry(used 50-100)
----------------------------------------
around the $500-$550 range once shipping is in the bag. Then you dont really have to worry about upgrading things all the time. You can 4psi on a hahn s16g up to 20psi just by tuning the sfmu yourself.

edit: ohh and you always need an FCD by one of Pauls they are well made. Plus he is always on here for support.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned Megasquirt n' Spark? Coughpaulcough..

Anyways, I'd opt for the Megasquirt n' spark. Biggest bang for your buck. Most tuning you'll get compared to most of the things listed above.

Do a search and you will see..

I've done some reading on the Megasquirt before. And i like it ecspecially the abilty to hook my laptop up and see how everything is running and record my data. But I've never messed with anything like that and I wouldn't know what i was doing. I'm really a noobie with all this engine mod. and turbo stuff all that i've learned is from reading off of these forms. Which is real frustrating cause you think you figure out the path to take then the next form send you in a different direction then another direction.

Well Blitz, Megasquirt really is not something that i personally want to recommend to a new member who does not even know exactly what he needs for a complete fuel system setup. That would be a little overkill and a mess just waiting to happen. Yes, it is the best way to go if you know your stuff.

Ok I believe this is what i'm going with.

Walbro 255l fuel pump kit
obx fuel rail
fcd (fuel cut defender)
440cc injectors
Vortech 12:1 SFMU
Apexi AFC Neo
SS fuel lines and fittings
Fuel pressure gauge
configuration #1

Now I will be able to run this setup without any problems with a turbo system?

Yes just stay within the limits of your injectors. You are also going to need a different disc/ring combo in the sfmu than the 12:1. Also use a -6an return line from the sfmu to the tank otherwise you will not be able to lower your idle fuel pressure enough. Then you can just use the afc for minor adjustments.

obx fuel rail

^^^Shouldn't really be necessary

should be fine, just make sure if you buy a used SFMU that the seller sends you all the disks, rings and springs with it. a bleed valve for it wouldnt hurt either.
