So this season I will be running a T4 HX40. Obviously the fuel system that was setup for my 50 trim, is no longer going to be sufficient. 1050cc injectors on a stock regulator and a 255 just aint gonna cut it. I was wondering what would be a good setup to MAX an hx40 on E85. That could give me a good idea as to what I need to get. My plan for this season was to run E85 because it was brought to my attention that supposedly, E85 would be coming to every NYS Thruway gas station. The closest E85 station we have right now is in Fulton and thats a good hour or so away. Now I am not trying to cheap out on this, but I would like to know the cheapest way to do it so don't say "O yea throw in some 2150 blue max's and 4 walboro 255's". I more than likely WONT be maxxing out an hx40 but....If I have what it takes to max it, then I would have no problem running less power. Catch my drift?

Running a turbo like the HX40 you will outflow a single fuel pump running E85 so injectors won't be your only big purchase here. I compiled a list of the bare minimum fuel system upgrades that will get the job done, you might include -6AN tank to rail too if funds are available but its not necessary.
- Walbro 255 in-tank
- Walbro 255 in-line or A1000 in-line
- 1650cc injectors (assuming 72lbs/min airflow here)
- FueLab metal element filter
I also suggest getting a higher capacity alternator or a Saturn alternator with it hardwired to the main power wires running your pumps that way you have minimal voltage drop.

I knew the single 255 wasn't going to be sufficient. I was really impressed of the new Deutchswork(sp?) pumps but I don't think one of those would be sufficient either. So the 1650's would be good for pretty much maxing out the turbo but I am just wondering what something smaller would do, like 1450's? And doing the Saturn swap was something I was thinking about in my ahead, along with a Jay Racing kit.

I'm not familiar with the Deatschwerks fuel pumps and I even skimmed through their site quick and could only find Walbro's or the 400lph in-line Bosch. I think you'd be better off just getting a in-line 255 and keep the Walbro in-tank 255 you've already got on there.

A set of 1450's would flow like a set of 950cc injectors running E85 through them, the problem with that is HX40's are capable of 72 lbs/min. Meaning that turbo could easily put you back in the market for bigger injectors once you start turning the boost up, those 1450's would be at 100% IDC at just 68 lbs/min on E85.

Your decision but I wish I could go back and strangle myself for getting the injectors I got for my current setup. I did the math and figured I get the injector that was "just big enough" for my turbo setup. My IDC's are at 98% and my fuel pressure is set to 50psi so I can squeeze more out of them. I know 2150's are HUGE and carry a big price tag but if I were to do it again I'd spend the extra money. Thats the end all E85 set of injectors and you'd never have to worry about it again.

I'd go so far to say a 255 in tank and 255 in line won't be enough. Go dual 255s or better, and 2150s. If you try to cheap out here you're still going to spend and arm and a leg and when you come up short on fuel you'll be sorry you didn't go all out.

tl;dr
Dual 255s (or better) in tank with 2150s.

Those 2150's carry a HEFTY price tag. The only reason I said 1450's is because I DOUBT I will max out the hx40, but now that I think about it....If I ever wanted to go bigger than that, then it would be nice to already have injectors to do it. The fuel pump situation isn't as bad because they arent as expensive as injectors, so I could do dual in tanks no problem.
