Hi Guys!

I was wondering if there would be any issues with the fuel sending unit being held by 3 thick studs in a tri-angular fashion (extreme to and extreme left and right studs)

for conversation sake, If I can't use the 3 studs then I would have to buy another tank :p

It will work, but you will constantly get the smell of gas inside of the car if you don't have the cover plate on and when you fill it up to much gas may leak from around the seal. Your also begging for condensation to get into the tank. I had mine running like that before I took it down for awhile. They have a tech article on how to fix the broken studs that you can see here Broken stud fix

I was only able to fix 3 of the broken studs, the tank was in bad shape and when I tried to drill a hole it broke more so I ended up sealing the holes (luckily they broke in a triangular shape)

I did replace the studs I could with much thicker studs.

I've been running my car with only 3 studs for the hanger for about 2 years now. The only real side affect from it was that I had to be careful when fueling up. It's overflowed a couple times.

I mean as long as you can get a good seal I think it will be good to go. For me I have like 3 of the stock studs still and because of my an fittings on the sending unit Ican't put the access cover back on so I constantly get a gas smell in the car because it doesn't seal all the way around .

I had 2 studs twist off on my tank. I drilled new holes in the cover right next to the originals, then used self tapping screws into the tank. I used some sealant rated for gas immersion on the gasket and screws. No gas smell or leaks. I didn't drain the tank, and didn't have any problems.

do you have any pictures? It doesn't look like I have much room as far as next to the originals is concerned.. at least not on the top metal part.

I am not sure what you mean by not having enough room, just pick a spot in between two of the original mounting holes, and drill a new hole. My car is in the shop having an alignment done. I will try to get some pictures later this week.
