my question is my goal is to run low 12's i have a 1991 gsx. which fuel injectors am i going to need and which fuel pump? i will be running a 3 inch exhaust, intake, evo 3 manifold, evo 3 o2 housing, big 16g turbo and all other supporting mods just dont know what to do about fuel. thanks for any help everyone

nate

680's and a 190 is a good combo. If you want to go ahead and upgrade for free with the purchase you could always go with a 255 fuel pump with an afpr. Some people will argue that you do not need an afpr with an aftermarket fuel pump, but an afpr is always good with any aftermarket fuel pump on our cars.

650cc and 190 if you are going to use SAFC. You can always run bigger injectors if you plan to get a chip or DSMlink. It depends on what you are going to use for fuel control.

i will be running 91 here in california thats the best we can get. with 680 or 650's and a 190 fuel pump what kind of boost will i be running and are low 12's capable?

I don't think you got my question. What setup do you plan to use to control the injectors? SAFC? Chip from keydiver? DSMlink? or something else? Low 12s will depend on a lot of other factors.

i am thinking maybe safc. i dont want to be much faster than a low 12. so i dont know if i will need to spend the extra money on a dsmlink.

If you go SAFC make sure you know how to use it because to run 12's you will need at least 15 lbs. Which i wouldn't suggest running all the time. So as you turn your boost down you will want to change you air/fuel ratios which can be tricky with an safc and i wouldn't suggest doing it if you don't know what you doing. If you run it too lean you could risk burning a valve or worst. So if your on a budget safc is where its at just ask questions and get someone to show you how to use it and you will be good to go with that. MBC is manditory as well but i'm sure you already have one.

i was looking to run more than 15lbs of boost wanted to be around 20lbs. does that change anything now?

Oldman why wouldnt you suggest running 15 lbs of boost all the time??? That's barely any more than stock and isn't pushing the engine that hard at all. I know people who have run 20 daily for over a year without causing any damage. 4g63s like boost :rocks:

Guys, I would steer the OP from discussing boost numbers for track times. He needs hp and weight numbers. More importantly what airflow he needs to reach his goal for a stock weight vehicle. A stock engine can handle 500 psi if there is a proper restrictor plate infront of the throttle body. I creasing flwo is important. And raising boost is but one mechanism to do this.

DGajre777, is right. An SAFC will handle 650s (at it's limit for timing advance). 650s flow enough for around 400hp. This is enough to get any stock weight dsm into the 12s. Likely diping into the 11s. You'll need a clutch. Don't spend the money for DSMLink if you're finw w/ this goal since you desperately need a clutch kit or nothing will happen.

BTW, your fpt28 can get yield your goal. Why buy a 16g and buy a conversion kit for nothing.

An "un-rewired" 190lph fuel pump would be fine for this goal. Id put it on and see if you're getting fpr overrun. There's a possibility you won't and consequently a possibility you won't need to spend over $150 more. If you do get overrun then get an AFPR.
