Ive been having issues with my car taking 2 or 3 seconds to start. When I turn the key to the on position I do not hear the fuel pump prime. My gauge also reads zero with the key in the on position. When its cold out it struggles to start because of this. I searched and no one really seems to know. Some say its not suppose to prime and others say it is. I cant imagine why they would design a car that wouldnt prime and give the car horribly starting characteristics. What should I check. Is there a relay for this? Other than that it runs and drives fine and fuel pressure is at 43.5 psi. thanks for your help. The car also has dsmlink so I dont know if the 95 ecu doesnt command the pump on?

This is normal. The fuel pump does not turn on and pump until the ECU gets a signal from from either the crank or cam sensor (can't remember which).

Well my buddy says his 97 gst primes, so whats up with that? Why would they do that? The car stumbles to start everytime and it sound like a clunker. If this was done on purpose them mitsubishi should be smacked. Every car I own primes.
