Ok just bought a 95 Eagle Talon.. TSi AWD.. was told it had 'overheating problems'... but we try to crank it over and it cranks and cranks and won't fire up. has spark has great (above average) compression.. but there is.. FUEL in my coolant system! took off the radiator cap and it reeked of gas.. and there was no coolant in there at all. it sounds like a head gasket, but supposedly there is a brand new one in there and if it was the hg then why wouldn't the compression be bad? need help asap please

thanks guys :talon:

I don't see how gas can get into the cooling system even if it were a head gasket. Oil maybe, but gas? That sounds very strange. So, are you saying that the radiator smells like gas, and there's no water or antifreeze in it? I'd say fill it up with water and try to get it to run just to see what's really going on. If you just bought the car and no nothing of it's history, who's to say that someone didn't malitiously put gas in the radiator? OMG

eh...we just got done pouring water in the cooling system and cranking it. It is the headgasket cause all that water went right in the oil so bad headgasket or warped head :thumbdown .
Thanks :thumb:

Its not 100% fuel but fuel scented hydrocarbon crank case funk invading the cooling system.

That could still be it, the head gasket. Just because you have compression only means that you have a tight seal around the cylinders, but your water jackets and oil holes apparently do not have a good seal.

ok so the head is off and yes.....its bad. The gasket itself is good, what we found was that the head gasket was replaced but the head wasnt shaved and the block wasnt decked or clean. Also they reused the old head bolts, which were stretched and we came to the conclusion that they bottomed out and didnt properly torque the head down......so blah..

 retards working on cars.... :barf:
