Hey guys i need help. My car has been idling really rough, sometimes chugging/choking when driving, and dumping fuel bad. I have fixed several engine light codes already. I changed the MAF sensor, the throttle position sensor, both O2 sensors, and i just keep getting codes. I can't find a vacuum or exhaust leak anywhere. I have done everything i can think of, shops are telling me it is a bad ECM and to get another car but i love my car and i'm not giving up. the codes on now are saying P0170 and P0135. HELP ME GUYS I REALLY WANT MY BABY TO RUN GOOD BUT IF I CANT FIGURE THIS OUT I AM GONNA PARK HER AND GET ANOTHER CAR I GUESS.

ok smarty what am i looking for when i take the screws off? I will have you know me and my wife replaced this transmission on our own so we are not stupid, but sensors and the ecu is kind of serious you know.

So do you really have to rewire this to run differently you can't just replace the fuel relay? I do a lot of stuff myself on my cars but I'm not brave enough to mess with wiring. I'm taking it to a trusted mechanic friend of mine hopefully in the morning, but I will keep this in mind....thank you

smarty?!!i do not know what u do or don't know. i was just agreeing with what you said. So u can replace parts--that just makes u a parts changer not a mechanic (yes i know u did not say u were one)what you are looking for is bad cap that or leaking or anything that does not look right on the board but with an attitude like that i do not wish to contribute anymore to helping you.

You will get a lot more assistance if you listen up after asking for help, and attempt to check things that a lot of the versed members recommend. The ECU is not hard to get to and all you have to do is unbolt it and unplug the connectors. Take it inside and take the 4 phillips screws out of the case and look for known bad spots. Here is a very good visualization from one of our supporting vendors, ECMTuning:

You can get some good knowledge from them and also have peace of mind that either your ECU is fine or maybe it is time to have it looked at for any problems. They are old and need maintenance sometimes like everything else. The guys at ECMTuning are very positive and good at what they do and usually have a quick turnaround time.
Hope that helps.
