My current oem fuel filler hose has sprung a leak from a combination of tank pressure and what appears to be cracking on the inside from fuel regular 93oct eating away at it. The pressure finished the thin parts off this morning and I found a small leak from the hose.
I am looking to replace it. First I thought silicone, but I found that's a terrible idea (absorbs/mixes with oils/hydrocarbons, gas has plenty of that). Then I looked up standard filler hoses, but they only handle E10 (regular gas). I found SAE 30R6 is for regular gas, and readily available. Then I read SAE 30R9 is compatible with E85 and practically anything since it is lined on the inside with teflon, but not available in 1.75 ID right angle shapes.
Anyone know where/what an appropriate substitute would be? I remember seeing a thread with regular gas hose dunked in E85 and over time it ate away at the hose noticeably within weeks to a month. That fill hose holds gas too, so I want to avoid that. Probably adds to the E85 Gum factor anyway.
Thoughts suggestions? Just use regular hose and stop being a puss?
