All fuel cut threads are combined here.

I've tried doing a search but to no avail.

I was just wondering what Fuel Cut is. I've heard it tossed around alot, but do not actually know the details behind it. And, naturally, I can gather that its when the fuel is cut off, but when and why.

Thanx,
Jon

I just took the MBC out to eliminate that problem. But something started leaking again  When I put 15psi in it , its leaks out within a few seconds. The leak is comign from somewhere under around the fuel rail. I cant pin point it tho. Back to the garage I go..... :toobad:
Injector seals. This is good news actually, at least now you're working to wards fixing your fuel cut problem. Make sure the system hold 20psi for a reasonable period of time before you call it complete.

How can you be so sure? I guess im going to pull off the fuel rail and put my other set of o-rings in. I will post as soon as I get it done.
Thanks,
MIke

Injector seals.

Good call OLDMAN :thumb: I Put some soapy water down there and that bi*** started bubbling. So I threw in my non cruise cable to get my mind off it. My only question now is, Where do I get those injector seals? Any autoparts store. Thanks OLDMAN...How old are you acutually? :dsm: :talon: :laser:

A regular auto parts store wouldn't have them? I ask this because I get good discounts there and I am all about saving money :sneaky: I would like to get them asap so I can get the car running right, then put my upgrades on and get it down the track.

That would be pretty damn funny if you were only 17. :tease:

In your dreams, buddy :)

The injector insulators are pretty cheap even if they are 5x what they should be.
The Mitsubishi part number is MD087060, perhaps you can cross reference it.

Steve

I ordered the full kit from Extreme PSI for $23 shipped. I will have them in one business day. Thanks for all the help. I have a quick question if any of you may have the answer let me know. Do you know where to buy cheap piping for making my pipes for my FMIC?
:dsm: :talon: :laser:

Got the new seals, put them in and something is still leaking!! How tight can I tighten those 3 bolts that hold the rail down? I dont want to strip anything out. 1 seal is still leaking and there is air coming from somewhere else. Can I tighten them up some more?

7-9 ft lbs for the bolts holding the rail. Keep in mind that when the car is running the pressure in the fuel rail is also pushing the injectors down or at least trying to spit them out of the rail.

Did all the injectors have the pintle caps on the end? How hard were the injector sheets, the rubber gromits on the top on the injector between the connector and the rail?

Steve

Well, I snapped one. but luckily I was able to get it out. I then took one of my new injector seals and fit it around the injector and it does not fit real snug like the stock ones. I just checked out the reciept from Extreme PSI and it says they are for PTE injectors!!!

Steve, I dont know what you mean by Pintle caps or sheets. The rubber grommet was in good shape. That would have no effect on a leak tho would it?

-Mike

The insulator should fit pretty tightly around the pintle cap.
The sheets may look like what some people are shipping for PTE insulators. That's because they are shipping injector sheets as insulators. :)

The stock seals fit tightly on the pintle caps but they were a hard plastic and had some cracks. The new ones fit very loosley and I think we're causing my car to leak even more than earlier. Im going to need to pick up the correct set somewhere. Do any local auto parts store carry them? Thanks for the pic.

Ok, im going to pick up a set at the dealer. $5 each! I will post the results when im done. If thats not the problem what else can it be? My only guess would be my INtake Manifold :barf:

You're not done with the leak test yet. After you fix the injector seals, repeat leak test until system is able to hold 20psi for a reasonable period of time. If problem persists after you have eliminated all leaks, we would be able to look else where with a greater confidence.

The seals I just picked up from the dealer fit as loosley as the ones from ExtremePSI. The stock ones are nice and snug on the pintle cap. I take it that they suppose to be this way?? When I installed them last night they sounded like they leaked even more than the old ones. SHould I put these in anyway? This is a PITA

I remember reading some where that the OEM, RC and Denso/Greddy all use the OEM seal and FIC/PTE uses a different seal but I'm 100% sure, maybe Extreme sent you the wrong seals, my Denso and OEM seals fits perfectly. If the gap isn't too large, try a thin layer of RTV and see if it will seal, what do you think steve?

I just got off the phone with DSmotorsport and they said the ones I just got directly from Mitsubishi are the same ones that they sell. I told them they still fit kind of loose around the pintle cap. He said that I should put some miles on it. Let em heat up and cool down because they expand some once they get some fuel on them etc. So im going to go put some miles on them and hope they seal  I will post in about 45 minutes with the results.

I took it out for a few miles. Did another test and its still leaking. What else should I check into? I wanted to be down the track with it this weekend :|

First how did it run?
Was that the only leak left or you got stuck there and didn't look for more?

It's possible for the injector insulators to leak when pressure testing and not leak when the car is running because of the addition of the fuel pressure pushing the injector down. It that was the last leak and the can was running good I'd say don't worry about it and check again the next time your working on the car.

If you are sure that was the last leak then hold the injector down so that it doesn't leak and look for more.

Steve

It ran exactly the same. Its still hitting fuel cut. I have the car in teh garage with the upper IC pipe and battery out of the car so I can have more room to work. There is still a huge leak. The car wont hold any boost at all :|

Ok, I cant find any leaks at all. So for shits, I pumped the air in and ran to the back of the car to listen thru the pipe ROFL I heard alot of air comign from there. 2 months ago when I did a compression test it was 158 across all 4. Im going to do another one right now. I will post in a few

Ok, I cant figure my car out. It had alot of boost leaks but I fixed them all, rechecked and no leaks anywhere. Dont go by my profile I need to update it. The car is as follows:
92 TSI AWD 5 spd.
3" downpipe
3"VRS Exhaust
Upper I/C pipe with type S
SOme gauges

Thats all that should matter.

Heres what happens. The car will pull hard and once it hits 13psi and stays for a few seconds it will hit fuel cut. I should be able to get 15-16 just fine. IF anyone has had similar problems please post what you did to solve it. If your not sure what your talking about please dont post. Thank you in advance.
-MIke :dsm: :talon: :laser:

I had the same problem on a couple of cars. The first was the timing was way out and the other was a leaky cap on the ECU board. Hope you find it :talon:
