my car started doing this not to long after i got my exhaust. i have a stock fuel pump but it is rewired. ill be going in third gear and stomp the gas, my boost goes up but not as fast as it used too until it gets to like 12 psi then from there it gets to 17 like it use to. well, my prob is that when i stomp the gas it feels like a slipping clutch. the rpms move the boost moves. it sounds like its going fast but its not. it does the same thing in fifth gear too. i could just be crusing around in fifth gear and the stomp the gas, no even downshift, and it feels like a slipping clutch. i do get fuel cut by the way, i know what that feels like.it also seems that maybe im not getting enough fuel cause before the fuel cut happens at wot my boost comes kinda slow until 12 like i said. im confused, n e help is appreciated. oh and my check engine light is on too cause autozone can only pull codes on 95 and newer cars.

it not your clutch i have the same thing happening, it will go to 20 lbs then will feel like the clutch is slipping, my boost backs down to 17 and then it's fine. i think it is the fuel cut, i would run bigger injector, fuel pump and regulator, try that out.

Sounds like a slipping clutch to me. Your RPM's are going up quick, boost is going up, but you're not really gaining as much speed as you should be. That's a slipping clutch. Fuel cut is when the ECU sees too lean of a condition and momentarily stops everything. It's fairly violent, you'll know when you hit fuel cut. You're conditions point towards the clutch.

thanx for the help. i asked my mechanic to drive my car and he told me that it is a clutch prob. i will be gettin the act 2600 pretty soon. as soon as i get the funds. oh, my check engine light was the egr valve. i checked it myself with a piezo buzzer from radioshack(6.99) its cheaper than getting an analog voltmeter(15.99-19.99). i need to figure out how to fix it. the main prob with that is that my car is a california eclipse with the harness for the egr valve. i blocked it off yesterday and my engine light went off until today about an hour ago and then it came back on. im sure its the egr again.

with a slipping clutch you'll also lose boost...do you smell clutch at all when you pop your hood? With the 2 clutches on dsms that I've fixed so far there was a DEFINATE smell of clutch burning indicating it wearing away.

i dont know if its a clutch smell but i can definitely smell something inside the car right after i get on it in fifth gear. it smells like something is burning. that sux. i really didnt want to have to buy a clutch just yet. oh well, it happens sometimes.

yeah ever use a dremmel? smells the same. Well, look at it from another point of view: it's another mod on your list that you'd need. Just unfortunate that you didn't get to select the time to do it.

I just did one this weekend...good luck.

what kind of clutch did you go with? was that hard to install? my mechanic said he would do it for me for 100.00. no hes not ripping me off, he is also my boss at work and a good friend. now i got to come up with 365.00 for the clutch, xxx.00 for the flywheel to be turned, xxx.00 for the slave cylinder, and 100.00 for the install. that sux, thats at least 500.00. oh well, like you said, its just another mod i need for my car. thanx for the info.

If you're pretty good mechanically, you could do it yourself. But takes awhile if you've never done it. 100 bux is a pretty good price for someone to do it for you. He'll prolly be pissed afterwards that he did it for so cheap. There's so many different clutches out there to get also. Just read around and find one you think you like. Or if you know anyone around you, ask them if you can test drive their car and see how u like the different clutches they run. Against the majority, I don't like ACT's. But a lot of people do. It's just preference. I run a sprung 6-puck setup and am very happy with it. Good luck man!

Both of the installs were with an ACT 2600 and street disc. I'm kinda against pucks, and really like the feel of the street disc. For $100 it's a deal...and me612 is exactly right: he'll wish he charged more.

It's about $40 to resurface a flywheel on average. You can find both cheaper and more expensive so shop around.

You don't need a new slave cylinder (unless there is a problem I don't know about with your vehicle)...but a new clutch fork and throwout bearing are very good (and sometimes neccessary) choices.

Basically just search on here...there is alot of information. If you tackle it by yourself, make sure to have a friend or two to help you.

We dropped my friends tranny in 5 hours...but it took about 4 hours to get it back in (long story, in short just use a winch to hoist it up). Putting it back together took another 5 hours and that included putting a new clutch line in and bleeding the system.

Just research and make the best decision based on the information you have, and if you have more questions I'm sure someone has answers for ya!

i am going to go ahead and let him do it for me. im going to be there to see how hard it is and next ill do it myself. does the kit come with the fork your talking about. i know it comes with the pressure plate, street disc ( the one im getting), and the tob. i am definitely going to get a datalogger but i cant seem to find the palm for it that i will need. i was going to get the safc 2, datalogger, and the 650 injectors at the same time.making tuning a piece of cake from what i hear. n e wayz im going with the gm maft blowthrough setup as well. just a little extra tuning.

You have to get the complete package. I highly reccommend diamondstarmotorsport.com as they are a sponsor of this site, have great prices, good support, and who I have used (most of my car parts and upgrades have come from there).

Talk to them and the'll get you everything you need. The fork and pivot ball aren't included usually.
