frozen Tranny

Yesterday i launched my car at 5600 rpm shifted from 1st to 2nd then to 3rd it grinded real nice but did't go in. Tried 4th did't go then i put in 5th it went in fine. Then i tried to shift down out of 5th it was stuck in gear! I pulled over and stoped to look at the shift fork it did't seem right. Then I Started the car up and the shifter goes in 1st 2nd ok but 3/4 there nothing is there broken slider maybe? Goes in 5th ok but no reverse. It does not move at all. Even with clutch engaged the car can not be rolled even. Even when trying to push it does not move.
Shifted great before this happend!
Also i checked the fluid its full no metal shavings in it.

Hmmm, at this point if it's not the shift cables (doubt it), then it's time to take it apart. Could be broken gear selector perhaps?

how did you launch? did you slip the clutch or dump it?

and since i just got off work, and this is my 4th 12 hour day in a row. i really was going to say gear oil doesn't freeze. .

synchro or release bearing on the clutch might be broken!

Yeah i dumped it pretty good.

if its grinding instead of going in you killed your syncro's and probably grinded it all the way to the gears if you have metal shavings in your fluid. have fun re-building if it looks like brass shavings its just your syncros and if its steel shavings its your gears.

Yeah i dumped it pretty good.

in the early years of my AWD and DSM days. I dumped it at 6k at the track. Grenaded the tranny. Yep. That was fun.

Also on another trip to the drag strip. I was slipping the clutch at 5500k, when i failed to slip correctly, my car grabbed traction, foot came all the way off the clutch, i pushed the clutch back in, and dumped it again, and wallah, center diff be gone.
