So my 1st gen 94 eclipse GS has no front defogger action. Its been really rainy these past few days and I almost cant even drive because of all the fog on my windshield. Heat and AC both work, just wont defog the window. Any suggestions on what could be wrong and/or what to do to fix it?

So you can't direct the airflow to the windshield vents?
Have you checked the control to make sure the cables are working correctly?
It looks like the mode selection control wire is the one on the drivers side of the airbox above duct.

cables work, airflow goes to the topvents. Just doesn't defog. could it be something wrong with the grid?

There isn't a grid on the front window.
When mine fogs up during the rain I have to turn the control to the defog position and turn on the AC to defog the windshield. If it's really bad I might have to turn the air control to recirculate too to avoid pulling in more moisture.

A/C must not be working too good if the air gets to the defrost vents and won't clear the glass. The a/c will cycle and run, if in working order, so the a/c "EVAPORATES" the moisture from the air in the vehicle heat/vent alone will not do it. Your a/c will come on automaticly when defrost is selected and idealy should be used on fresh air mode.

in that case, should i try adding more A/C stuff{the name slipped my mind..but its the stuff in the lil bottles to make the ac colder...LOL} then seeing if it defogs?

Have the refridgerant levels checked before adding any (134a). Have the a/c evacuated to determine the amount in the system and then recharge it to specs, may want to have whoever does this hold a vacuum on the a/c system for a while. If the a/c is low on freon there is with out a doubt a leak of some size, a leak is probably the best you can hope for. Have the system recharged if it is low on freon (134a), then thank god, and recheck later for leaks if you want or just keep recharging it. In my case I have a compressor going bad so sooner or later I am going to have to bite the bullet, I hope you don't have the same problem.

Well, it cools the air and makes the entrained moisture condense out, but mostly the same idea.

If it hasn't been converted, your 94 still runs Freon, R-12. At least ask at a shop that does A/C work, and it might even be a better deal to just have them re-charge it.

The only thing i dont understand is the AC blows nice and cold without the defroster on. ill have it all checked out i guess...
