my fathers 1g dsm nt is having a problem with the hvac controls. the 4 way switch is doing nothing. I was wondering how this assembly works... or what could have caused the failure. Any advice would be greatly appritiated as i have to fix it one way or another... if you could describe the whole system I could try troubleshooting it... thanks

I know that this doesn't permanently fix your problem, but you can at least make it so you can see so you don't crash before you get your heater fixed. Take any glycerin-based hand soap (I picked some up for $3.99 at OSH), put it on a dry towel, and wipe it all over the insides of your windows and on your mirrors. Don't use too much, but enough so that you can pretty well cover the glass with a thin layer. Wait a few minutes for the stuff to dry, and then wipe it off. Make sure that you wipe it all off otherwise you'll replace foggy windows with blurry ones. I just did this to my 2g this morning because my front defogger vents stopped blowing air. It worked like a charm :thumb: . Like I said, it isn't a permanent fix, but it will keep you safe for now.
