I can't get these guys to light up on my 2g. They never lit up from when I bought them. I replaced the amber ones with some smoked ones and new bulbs and still no luck.

I can't find anything on the net and I've looked in the Chilton and still can't find anything.

Anyone have an idea? Fuse location? Anything?

Thanks

fuse is probably blown or not there. Not exactly sure where fuse box is located for the lights, but there is one under hood by your uicp. Not sure of location for internal fuse box. Check glove box or passenger or driver panel where door shuts and look for panel access door.

There also might be a short in the wiring somewhere. Take a voltmeter, remove side marker housing and check and see if power is getting to light. that should be step 2 after checking fuse.

Agreed and if those things dont work do a continuity test to make sure the wires are good

umm the fuse for these on my 98 gsx is the on the fuse in the engine bay marked taillights.... Now mine may have some bootleg wiring or you have no gauge lights, taillights, and marker lights.. and this would not be cool driving around like this :nono:... But i bought this car used with a 6-bolt swap so they might have hacked something up.... Thinking about it a little more i think it also does hvac lights

He shouldn't need a voltmeter to find a shirt in the wiring, but maybe if it's a small shirt.... :)

The pigtails on the corner light sockets corrode very easily and tend to pull out of the socket. Check for green corrosion where the wires enter the socket on each light. A voltmeter here might help. :) If you DO find a shirt, take a pic of it and post it here. :D

My old Talon had the same issue. It turned out to be the sockets were so corroded that the light terminals would not touch them. Check in the sockets for corrosion.

yes. or you can get a wire brush and file the end down where the connection is 100% metal on metal... But I'd go the new connector route. Not that expensive.

If you do re wire, make sure to use the same or smaller gauge wiring... wanna make sure that there is enough power getting to the housing.

And the shirt... if its not too dirty, place over the driver's seat and you'll have a seat cover

Continuity doesn't mean they are good. If you have a 20 strand wire and 18 strands are bad or cut you will still get continuity.

Continuity testing is good for identifying a wire and shows you your circuit still passes voltage. Next step is to energize the circuit and test the resistance at the fuse and at the wires that feed the light and compare these readings . If you're readings show you have lots of resistance at the end compared to the lines at your fuse your line is damaged and needs to be replaced. since in this case both side markers are out so I'd say its a fuse problem.

Took a peek last night and the connectors do not look corroded on the inside and it also looks good where the wires connect. Could be the bulbs(what are the chances they are both bad brand new?)

I'll try to get a new set(they are cheap).

Going to try and locate the fuse but I don't think they have their own fuse from what I've seen and all of my light functions are working properly. I'm going to have to start at the light and work my way back I guess.
