four new tires or keydiver chip and two tires

I only need two tires but i have 205 55 16. If i get 4 i can get 225/50/16 That will help handling and lauches. Now could i run a 2 225/50/16 and 2 205/55/16s or is the going to kill my tansfer case cause of the size difference. or should i just get two new 205/55/16 and then but a keydiver chip. I only have about 400 dollars. Just curious what you guys think.

well ok then Everyone agrees. These will have to be my all season tires and we get a decent amount of snow here. I have been checking reviews on all seasons, and it seems that people like the continental dws any one had any luck with that one.

You MUST run the same size tires all the way around on an AWD car. It's highly recommended that you run the same BRAND as well, as diff. tire mfg's will have slightly different specs.

You are always suppose to change all 4 tires at once on an AWD, even if 3 are still good. That being said, whether you are going to do things the right way or not is your choice, but the consequences are yours alone to bare.

thats what i was figuring I know all wheel drive is a different story than fwd or rwd Thanks for the in put I know dsm link is the way to go. Not sure if i want to tune it myself and I don't have a lap top so that's alot of money to spend to get that started but I think tuning could be fun as well.

Another vote for 4 new tires, and I'd say the Continental DWS tires are a good choice. My friend has them on her car and I was driving it through the mountains of Colorado this past weekend and they did great. Had them in snow, some ice, and slushy conditions and the only time I'd break them loose or lose traction is if I hit the gas too hard (1.8T Jetta) or turn too hard.

With AWD you want to replace all four tires at once. It is hard on the drivetrain if you don't. The tire placed around here won't even let you replace less than 4 tires on an AWD at a time.

Great thanks glad to here a little more about those tires. I haven't heard a bad thing about them yet. And i am have a bad tranny leak out the back some were(think it might be an axle seal) and transfer case leeks as well(but don't know were and the recall is done to it) so i got to get that fixed before new tires now. So those have to be put off now to *sigh*.
