When I replaced my fuel filter tonight and removed my battery tray I found these 2 lines disconnected. What are they and where did they go? It looks like something went there but I'm not sure. I searched and found this thread but the lines look different than mine: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/bolt-tech/245874-found-disconnected-lines-what-they.html

Here are the pictures:

A better picture of where the 2 lines are located:

Thanks in advance for any help! :thumb:

No, other wise my heat wouldn't work and it does. As well as my defrost wouldn't work and I would have a kind of fog blow in my cabin. I had a heater core go out on my GS and I'm not having any of the symptoms of a problem with the heater core. Anyone else wanna take swing at it?

Than whats that black box near the driver side front bumper? Its right under the horn.

Hmm...I don't think my egr has been blocked off. Otherwise I don't think I would have passed my State Inspection. But I will go take a look tomorrow. I'm way too tired to go look right now after the fun I had with the fuel filter tonight.

Would it be a problem to take that disconnected end of the vaccuum hose and put it to the other end? I tried it once and it kinked it so I'm sure that it blocks it off just nice.

My car runs fine. Only thing is low idle (like 200-400) when in gear, but never dies though. Well that and the transmission will every now and than slip a little, but thats another story. But as soon as I put it in neutral or park it goes to 700-800 rpm and stays there. Yes, I do need my emissions for state inspections once every year.

Edit: Forgot to say I went and looked at the EGR valve and all of the lines are connected.

Just for clarification, this is the charcoal canister correct? I'm 99% positive it is but just making sure. Its in the same spot as my '97 GS was just on the driver side instead of the passenger. Anyway here is the picture:

<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/3224/1007510zt9.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/></a><br/>

and another:

Update: So I was looking through my trusty Haynes book and decided to look at the emissions pages, chapter 6 if your following along, and really didn't find any helpful info. So I decided to look around some more and went and looked at the transmission pages (chapter 7) and came across a picture(page: 7B-6) of what needs to be taken out for a successful transmission removal. Well if you look at the bottom right hand of the page you will see a Evaporative emission canister. Now is there 2 emission canister's on our vehicles or is the illustration just showing the 95-97 models? If you look at page 6-17 it explains that on 95-97 turbo models the charcoal canister is under the battery tray but thats it. It doesn't explain where it would be located on 98-99 models. Of course I know where it is but it doesn't make much since not to explain where it would be located on 98-99 models. Anyway that last part was just me ranting on.

dont plug it! its to vent your gas vapors from your gas tank. just leave it for now. i believe u still supposed to have a canister on the 97 models under the battery. i'll see if i can find anymore info.

My 98 GSX has a canister where I think those lines connect. I bought my car stock and they were disconnected from the canister. I connected them and have not suffered from any relating issue. I also have the box under the driver's side wheel. Maybe they work in tandem?

Mk. So I guess what I'am going to do is take the picture's to the dealer and ask them. If I happen to need what ever kind of canister is supposed to go there, I will try to get it and plug them back into that new canister. I appreciate all of the help guys. BTW, I had a thought/idea. Would you think a vented oil catch can would work the same or no?
