i was playing with my battery, found an unplugged connector on the tranny? the plug and connector both had some type of dried up cruddy oil? i was wondering what this is and how important it is and why it could of got all cruddy and when i went to put it in one of the prongs would bend so i was ondering if i could just get a new one and just take that off some how <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/50529416@N08/5574390041/" title="IMG00101-20110330-1442.jpg by letsgetwasted, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5110/5574390041_1458c160e8.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="IMG00101-20110330-1442.jpg"></a>
 
As already said, it's the reverse switch. It turns the reverse lights on when you go into reverse. Try cleaning it up a bit and see if the lights pop on. If they do then it's fine. Just throw some die electric grease in there to keep it from corroding even more.
