STARTED FRESH TOPIC THREAD.

so i took of exhaust dropped the highly sealed oil pan, and i cant beliave what i found..

the balance shaft elimante kit the small stub that comes in the kit in my oil pan kind of bruzed of little chips on the side and the middle.. there was no silver in the pana nd no flakes just that one peace.......

how the heck could this ever get loose??its threaded into the gear inside the oil pump..

i got that installed when i got my blok boared......... 2,000 miles later this happened..

im very stressed out due to the reason all my money i will have this year went to the rebuild...

what do you guys think and suggest about this whole situation .. thanks for all replys. lukas
Online NOW is this possible fixing on the street i know i got to get the pump out and ext..:dsm::dsm:

put a new plug in the thing and check your bearings. If they are scarred but not the crank or rods then you can probably get away with new bearings. I believe your the one who said you heard a whining noise as well. That was most likely the turbo so im pretty sure you will need a new turbo to go with things. Hopwefully this is all you will have to do. Ohh check the cam journals and bearings as well.

It has been known to happen. When you put it take together used locktite.

exactly.. us ethe RED (permanent) and make sure the parts are clean and dry first.. then if at all possible, leave it sit for several hours to overnight before installing or putting it into service. I used a little trick i will not even mention on here to keep mine from coming off :D

HAHA, yeah, JB weld is one badass thread locker.

To OP, where did you get the BS kit from? Is the stub the right one with the oil groove in it?

guys thanks so much for the replyss......

you think i can pull this job off in my parking space with 2 jacks??

i got pull timing off get harmonic balancer the whole side of the engine has to come out and engine has to be dropped right?

then i gotta take oil pump cover take oil pump out and disamble it ....

how long do you guys think this job would take me if i worked all day from 10 am to 8 pm ?

i have warranty but foget ittttttttt terribleeeee buisness they had my car for 5 months!!!!!!!

i wouldnt take it back there if they paid me...

beaerings should be fine i was running almost a full bottle of lukas with 10 30w..and engine is fresh i heard no knock or nothing i put sethescope to it... i heard lucas wil keep stuff lubricated alittle longer just in case i lost oil pressure..

should i buy a new kit and would i have to get new oil pump? sorry for all the questions guys but if anyone switched the kit by themselves could you please tell me your experiance thanks.. lg:dsm:

If you can pull the engine I would think that would be easier, I havent done a front case gasket with the engine in the car, I think it would be hard because you would have to drop the side of the engine way down to acess the bolts and clean up the gasket, its so much easier on an engine stand.

false.

you speak from no experience.

drop the engine down, youll have more than enough room to get to the bottom. by the time it takes you to finish the job, you wouldnt have even finished pulling the engine..

im interested in whether or not they actually locked it down with a bolt, or forgot?

you said you had someone else do it? god forbid, you pull the cover where the stub bolts into and there isnt a bolt in there..

im sure if there wasent a bolt installed, the car wouldent last more then 5 miles. the OP said this happened at 2000 miles on the new motor.

i personally have done this boost lg, and its not that hard. i did it with my engine in the car and if your working with limited space then you should do the same. sure taking the motor out to do this is easier but not if you dont have the resorces : a engine hoist : a shop : a garage. you WILL have to drop the engine down. alot. i had to remove the mount on the tranny. also the one on the timing belt side. and of course the one right in front of the radiator. but the one by the firewall gave me no problems. also use thread locker (stongest) on the bolt that holds the stub in. i put mine in a vice to torque it down and like snowbird said, make sure you get the right shaft with the oiling hole. i got my entire kit from the dealer and the shaft comes with the hole. use or cross this part number: MS098626. it comes out of a mitsubishi mirage. tenn-gsx thinks you need a new turbo.... i dont see why. just be prepared, patient, and ready to deal will bullshit that might come up. good luck:dsm:

Guys amazing stufff gave me alot of hope ..... im starting wed 10:00 am working staright until its done once it gets dark then ill drop the lights i got a copy of instructions how to do it just gotta follow em its from a 1st g but almost same.. Im excited excited to get my baby on the road again i also have a 98 maxima but cant have trying that after driving the gst no comparison at all.. I acually look forward to waking up in the morning to go on the highway nothing better..:thumb:

i kind of felt bad because that sunday morning i got up at 8 am an hit the highway hitting speeds of minimum 80 to 124 for like 25 miles ... so i felt like i abused the car to much but i figured its made for that ........

thanks guys..lg

i think you got the problem pretty much sorted out but i wanted to point out that you shouldn't use the Lucas oil addictive your just asking for trouble...depending on milage just go to a 10w-40 full synthetic i like mobile one.
:talon:
