ok just like the title says i forgot to mark the pistons my buddy was helping me and i thought he was putting them down in order but he didnt same with the rod caps am i screwed? what do i do?

IIRC rod caps are usually marked from the factory. Pistons on the other hand you are probably screwed. Actually if you think about it you are probably screwed on the rod caps as well since the marking will be on the cap itself and not the rod, you won't be able to tell which cap went with which rod.

when you knock in the pistons, rotate the crank after every piston, if the crank locks up, or dosnt move, you have the wrong cap.

also plastagage will help...

or best yet.. spend the $60 and take them to a machineshop that can sort out the caps and resize the rods if needed.

usually you can tell what cap went in what place by matching them to the previous marks if you look very closely there are marks from where the caps were before. use an led flashlight and match them if you can. i did this even after the block was hot tanked and magnafluxed. with the rods and pistons the install and rotate method works. if you install and all spins with no hard spots or stopping you should be just fine.
