how do you guys suggest i get these ####ing bolts off.... i can NOT even budge them. i have no air tools and i dont really want to go buy any. im about to just leave it on and say screw it and just get a new clutch and pressure plate. there are cracks in the flywheel, but i have no other choice unless someone has a brilliant idea.

you got a johnson bar and a pry bar and a good friend its not to hard

put a bolt back into your block rest the pry bar against it and then put it it between the teeth of your fly wheel get your friend to hold it while you jump on the breaker bar thats attached to your flywheel bolts.

JEGS 80530 JEGS Flywheel Turning Tool

or follow that link buy a fly wheel turning tool and use it

They probably have locktite on them. You can either gently heat them, use some air tools, or leave it on. If you leave it on then rough the flywheel with 80grit sandpaper then rub it down with a rag covered in brake cleaner.

thanks guys. yes the motor is still in there. i have it so it wont turn i just cant seem to break them loose. if im correct is it a 17mm and a 3/4 standard?

now if i do leave it on can you give me more detail on what i should do. sand it then clean it?

Air tools are by far the easiest way but I had the same troubles getting mine off. It's a 17mm bolt and I advise is to use a lubricant and soak the bolts a bit. Quick thrusts to torque them off. A breaker bar is the best way and you should use a small bar like a fence post for leverage to help you break them loose. If your engine isn't spinning they should come out but with the engine in the bay it's hard to get enough leverage to break them loose. I believe they are torqued at 160 pounds. And with thread locker it'll be even harder. Just keep at it take breaks it took me 2 hours to get them off myself. And if you put a new clutch you need to resurface the flywheel as well so you should get it off.

Have someone bring a compressor or go to a harbor freight and buy the tool

Yes, a clutch and a flywheel will glaze over over time and will also wear into each other. Your flywheel is going to be very smooth in some spots and scored in others but the difference will be nearly imperceptible when you look at it or touch it. If you rough it up with a little bit of 80 grit sandpaper then the flywheel can set against the new clutch with no "memory" of the old one. Using a cleaner that evaporates with no residue (like brake cleaner) makes sure that there is no dust or dirt that will reduce the friction between the flywheel and the clutch. Inspect your flywheel before attempting to simply reuse it. If there are ANY discolorations or deep scratches then it MUST come off and at a minimum be resurfaced.

thanks for all the info. well i would consider that but like i said there are some heat cracks in there and idk if that can be fixed or not.

yea i have been working on this and soaking it in pb blaster for a little. i have a big metal bar that i put on it. but like you said its really hard to get it on there because the motor is still in there. im gonna keep working at it, i just dont see this happeneing because there are 7 bolts!! and i cant even get one off!!

if u dont have the cash for air tools and a compressor u can always get an electric impact gun, i think u can get a 100 foot pound electric impact gun for about $50 at harbor freight, its worth the investment, u can use it for lugs on ## wheels, axel bolts, brake components... just dont plan on it working for to long LOL

i was in the same situation you were in a few months back. i eventually found a mobile mechanic off craigslist and paid the guy 75 bucks to take it off and put my new one off because i didn't have air tools and a torch.

ok well i think im just gonna sand it down. its not warped at all we check it there are no missing teeth or anything like that. im just a little worried about the stress cracks is this ok to just sand it myself.

If you think your flywheel is good than I would just do what they said. But if you are worried about it now is the time to fix it. You don't want to be droping your transmission in a couple months ago to do something you knew you should've replaced right away you know.

That electric impact gun is a great Idea buy it and return it later LOL

I think he talking about stopping the flywheel from spinning but like you said you already did that. Sadly I think you are going to have to find a way to muscle them off or have someone bring a compressor and an impact gun to take them off

Dude, I'm telling you. Take the wrench and put it on one of the bolts. Wedge it against the face of another bolt. While you hold it in place, use a breaker bar to knock the rest of them loose. When you get around to the leveraged bolts, just switch to 2 other bolts.

are you serious? what would happen because im pretty sure thats the way its been turning...

im still not seeing this. the whole thing turns including the bolts?
