tool for oil pump? oil pump will not come off?

Im trying to get the oil pump off my 4g64, I have removed everything except that weird flush bolt that sits behind the timing gear to the right of the crank shaft, the manual I have says to use " the special tool" in the diagram, how ever it does not say what the name of the tool is. Im try to remove the oil pump plug cap. Whats the name of the tool and where can I get it.

I use a flatblade screwdriver and hammer. Has work on almost everyone. Had one someone must have loctite'd. Got it off, but replaced it.

A flat head screw driver and a hammer is all that you need.

Md988164 is the tool number. It's made by miller tools. I have one and I got it from eBay. but searching I found that everyone uses a flat head screwdriver or dull flat chisel and a hammer. If its not moving heat it up a little bit with a propane or even better map gas torch.

So I finally got it off, and removed the screw being covered by the cap but the oil pump will not come off it moves out like a 1/4 of an inch and will not budge, after that, tried pry bar, heat, will not budge I tell you. Did I miss something?

Do you have the front (radiator side) balance shaft pulley off? The pulley that spins the balance shaft... Cause if not you are trying to pull the front case off with the left balance shaft still attached to the front case. Assuming you have balance shafts... If not maybe snap a pic and post to see if someone can identify what still needs to be removed.

How do I lock up the gear so I can un-bolt the bolt in the gear. Also the oil pan and oil pick up tube are still installed do I have to remove those parts to remove the oil pump?

IF you are talking about removing the bolt in the rear shaft than there is a bolt in the back of the block that you can remove and insert a screw driver to lock the shaft. As for removing the oil pump, The pan and pickup will have to be removed.
