oil pump off time

i just did my timing and i forgot about the iol pump time... its off by about half an inch.. will this make a bad time and cause problems?

will it break somehting o cause significant damage to the internals due to the iol squerters?

First of all, learn how to spell and use the shift key when posting. Now, if the car doesn't have balance shafts, then no, it won't matter what position the oil pump sprocket is in. If you still have the balance shaft in that is connected to the oil pump, you damn right its gonna cause problems. The engine will vibrate something fierce.

Long story short, no balance shafts, leave it. Balance shafts, go back in and fix it.

Ok when i got he engine the balance shaft belt was still on it... I took it to a guy that said he would eliminate the shaft and i came back later... He said that he didnt have time to get to it but if i just cut the belt i would be ok... so i cut the belt and now it does not have the balance shaft belt. Does this mean i need a new one or can i leave it like it is and not time the oil pump to?

Sorry, but that won't work either. See you have (2) balance shafts. One driven by the balance shaft belt only. And one that is driven by the oil pump which is driven by the timing belt. So your best off by either putting a balance shaft belt back on and getting your gears in time. Or get in there and pull the balance shafts out.

+1 you don't wanna run your engine with out of time balance shafts, it'll vibrate your socks off.

You don't have to pull the balance shafts out. Just leave the balance shaft belt cut and let the front shaft sit in the motor. It's just chillin, not doing a damn thing. As for the other balance shaft, that one is connected to the oil pump, which is driven by the oil pump sprocket, which is driven by the timing belt. THAT one absolutely must be in time with everything else, otherwise, the engine will vibrate like nothing you ever felt before!

Nothing will break/bend if the balance shaft isn't in time, but the engine will vibrate a LOT more than you are willing to put up with.

Now correct me if I'm wrong. But in order for the balance shafts to work properly, shouldn't they both be driven at the same time. Basically to compensate each others counter weight. I don't believe one shaft spinning and the other not will be un-vibrate friendly. And also you will have to get in there to re-time the oil pump, so whats the harm in sticking a new balance shaft belt in all at the same time.
