Flywheel resurfacing question

I was wondering if i could use sandpaper and what grit to lightly scruff the glazing
off of the flywheel?

You can use 80 grit emery cloth to scuff it up a bit, but depending on the condition of your flywheel I would look into taking it to a machine shop for them to resurface. Its only a 30 dollar job. if there is any blue/black streaks, it should be resurfaced, those are hard spots where it has gotton hot and crystalized the carbon in the steel. the clutch disk can not "grip" on a hard spot.

this is the basic process that will be done, but there is an extra step to maching the 4G flywheel, it has a 2nd cut that has to be done to keep the proper distance between the point the pressure plate mounts and where the clutch disk face mates.

if this step it too much, then proper clamping load is not maintained, if too tight, the clutch will not disengage properly

Definatly just get it resurfaced. That way you have a clean slate.
