Flywheel help

Ok so I dont really know how to determine what to look for. My friend and I have decided to trade drivetrains and im getting his 5sp set-up for my auto set-up


He said that I need to get a new flywheel to handle his stg5 clutch. He has a damn near 450awhp 6bolt motor and im coming with a 250-ish if that motor. should I go with a stock flywheel or does anybody reccomend a better one? Or should I just get a different clutch and flywheel since I'm no where near his hp. I dont wanna screw up anything on my car when we swap

You should be safe with a stock flywheel, but if you want to keep that kind of power, getting a lighter flywheel would be beneficial.

Stage 5 isn't very streetable for a daily driver . I've run a act2600 6 puck sprung with a act lightweight flywheel and it's a very harsh engagement. If this is a daily driver youd be better off with somthing closer to a stock clamping force , it will reduce shock and wear to your drivetrain components by wearing the clutch disc . Which is a wear item to begin with. And cheaper to replace than trannys, xfer case, ujoints, rear, axles.

I ran a 11 pound ebay flywheel on my AWD 2g talon and had no problems. However I was also only making a stock 210 horse power.

I've heard lightweight flywheels can be dangerous when you start making serious power.

Since your running lower power level go with a like stock clutch.Why deal with the harshness of a heavy duty clutch if you dont have to. No benifits at all and will speed wear on the rest of your drivetrain. No brainer

As for the video That is why some classes and/or tracks mandate scatter shields.Exploding flywheel is very dangerous.

I guess a good question to ask would be do you plan ok keeping it at that power level? Also if your going to use his clutch, why not get his flywheel too, he won't have any use for it when he goes auto, just like you won't need the flexplate to go manual.
