Does a lightened flywheel cause you to cruise at higher rpms?

Do 4-puck disks really destroy clutches? I'm thinking about getting fidanza's 3.2.

I believe a lighter flywheel makes it easier to go through your RPMs. Are you asking if 4-puck clutch disks destroy pressure plates? Depends, on how you drive your car. I wouldn't recommend a 4-puck for street if that's what you're looking at.

If you want to look at clutch kits, look for ACT's 2100-2600 or a clutchmaster's kit.

I know it helps acceleration, but I heard you have to switch gears sooner which leads me to believe you would cruise at higher rpms.

The reason you would have to shift sooner is because the motor will rev faster, thus causing you to shift sooner.

I also would not recommend multi puck clutches for a DD.

The tranny gear sets and final drive is what dictates the RPMs you would shift at as far as gear ratio goes. The flywheel could be made from a brick or aluminum...it wouldn't matter.

I recently put in a new clutch & lightened flywheel. You will definitely be able to notice a difference, but I still shift and cruise at the same rpms.

I just got a Fidanza aluminum flywheel and a fidanza 2.1 clutch kit for my gsx. First time I did NOT put in the new throwout bearing (soon as i saw it I was like *DOH*.) But now i had to pull it back out and throw it in. Now it shifts great. Youll definitely love a combo if you get it.

Yeah, I went with the fidanza flywheel and spec stage 4+ clutch. It shifts smooth, and almost like stock.

I have the act2100 with a fidanza 8lb flywheel...today I drove a tsi with the same mods I have, but stock clutch and f.w setup, and its such a huge diffrence.

with the setup I have, getting used to driving will be ocward at first, but not a huge deal. u will love the quicker rev, but keep in mind that with reaching higher rpm quicker with the lighter flywheel also comes quicker rpm drop between shifts...
