Hey, i posted awhile back when my clutch went out and ended up pulling the trans. thinking it was my clutch. It ended up my throwout bearing was broke and basically fell out when i pulled the trans. I went ahead and took off my pressure plate and im not sure how to see if its still ok, it doesnt seem to good. the disk looks pretty worn but the pressure plate looks better but has some lower parts that looks scraped off. the flywheel kinda looks like a dried out eye, LOL, has hairline cracks everywhere coming out from the center. the dont look deep but theres alot. Il try to get some pics as soon as i can. Also my trans was grinding in 2nd then 1st and then Reverse and getting worse before it went out but im not sure if it was clutch, trans, or TOB. So with all this im not sure what to do i only paid 1750 for the car and after a clutch and trans. il be over that and dont know if i want to spend that much. So say i get this TOB in here and the clutch works good for now and doesnt grind to bad how much can i get out of it? I would really like a 95+ eclipse gsx with lower miles and newer parts, something more expensive and more reliable. When i pulled the trans in this there seemed like quite a few bolts were missing. i really want something that has been done right. I really wouldnt have bought the car if i knew what i know now, LOL, but oh well. So if anybody has info on clutch and flywheel wear or some advice on what to do here. Thanks for any help and my specs for car are on profile.

The only wear that should show on the pressure plate is from where the TOB rides on the fingures. Beyond that any cracking and such means it has to be replaced.

OK, well this is kinda like a think layer is takin off in some places, if that makes since, kinda like if your skin peels, that kinda look, but do you think it would still be useable if i just put it back in, i guess you probably need pics first but it didnt slip at all till about 2 days before my clutch went out and i see no reason why any part of the clutch would have totally made it go out so i say it would have to have been the TOB. Il also get some pics of the car tomarrow if anyone can give me a ballpark price of what i could get if i got the clutch to work right. Thanks.

While you have the tranny off:

1.) Replace the rear main seal
2.) Replace the clutch fork fulcrum
3.) replace the throw out bearing

These are always smart things to do during a clutch swap (especially on a 14-15 year old car). If your flywheel has hairline cracks in it, I'd recommend scrapping it...although I do admit I have used some flyhweels that had them. Make sure your flywheel's step height is still good (should be about .612-.610 inches) you can measure this with a micrometer. Are any of the fingers on the pressure plate bent or chipped or cracked? If so, replace it. Don't skimp out on this type of job, or you will be taking off the tranny again very soon. ;)

OK, well il make sure i do all that, im sorry i havnt got any pics but it will soon i was gone all day. Well im just tryin to decide if i want to put the money into it or not, need to make up my mind soon. Really i didnt think it was too bad getting the trans. out i guess maybe cause i didnt have anything else to do and ive never did it before, i dont know. I did everything it said on the site and it just slid right out, il be happy if it goes back in as good but who knows. It wouldnt have took me to long if i had all the tools and knew were they were, LOL. I figure if i can get it to last me untill spring thats all i need, but right now i really really need a car to drive. Anyway thanks for the help. and anyone who can think of anything else i could do that would be cool. Thanks.
