Ok i have a few questions concerning my tob, and tranmission. I was having issues with grinding noises and screetching, thought it was my tob. But i took the trans out and all seemed fine. But i was wondering with the transmission in the car and all together, i if i should be able to move the clutch fork at all.

Right now it will move very little. And i wouldnt really be able to get the slave cyl on, im sure i could but it would be a pain since the rod on the slave seems extended which makes me think that something is sitting off. I was wondering if spec's tob are extended, someone was telling me that act makes a extended one for our cars. I also shimmed the pivot ball, so im thinking from using the spec tob and shimming the pivot ball is why i cant move the clutch fork. I was told is should be able to move it back and forth a lil bit. I basically cant move the fork with my hand, it should have some freeplay. Let me know what you guys think.

Also i still have the oem bearing that was orginally on, it doesnt even have 5 miles on it, but i herd all kinds of noises coming from the trans, that sounds clutch reladed. So i thought i may have a faulty one, but now that i think about it, maybe i shimmed it to much or i didnt need one to begin with. Also the pivot ball is new and the fork. So if someone could shine some light on what could my issue be would be great thanks.
 
I have a spec state 2+2. I orginally was having issues with chatter at idle, and then my tob sounded like it was making noise. I was told you should be able to move the clutch fork a lil bit. But i cant get any movement. I just want to get everything in good working order before i put everything back on again. I hope that helps.
 
Im trying to explain it as best as i can, if you were here i could show you want i mean. But this is the next best thing.
 
I hear ya. Its hard diagnosing things when you can't see them. I did a 6 bolt swap in my 2G and went to a competition 6 puck and all the sudden couldnt get it into any gear. I found the the TOB fork was bottoming out on the trans. I pulled the trans back out and found that the TOB fork was worn in atleast a 1/4 of an inch from the pivot ball. I put a new fork, ball and used the same OEM TOB and my car has been fine. I spaced the pivot ball out with 2 washers and loctited it in. Yes it is, well my fork and ball are new. I know someone on tuners can give me an idea. I think specs tob is a lil longer i guess you can say and makes up for shimming the pivot ball, does that sound right? Ive actually read that shimming the pivot ball is a band-aid fix. So i dont actually think i need to shimm it.
 
Yea if the TOB is longer then that makes sense to not have to shim the ball as much or at all. They do also make that slave cylinder extension rod like you talked about. You always do have to compress the slave cylinder atleast a little bit to bolt it down where it belongs. I don't think spacing the pivot ball is a band aid necessarily though. I work on jeep, chrysler and dodges and that was actually one of the fixes for wrangler clutch problems. I think you should be good with the longer TOB and if need be, the longer slave rod
 
One thing I have heard around and noticed one time myself is that oem TOB's are the best. I put a TOB in my car with one of my clutchmasters installs( TOB from clutchmasters ) and it squeaked its ass off for atleast a half hour of running and then went away
