Ok, I have a set of Jade-R 18" rims on my 1g DSM and they stick out past the fenders. And I have Coilovers all around and want to drop this thing a bit more and not eat up my tires, I cant just roll the lip up because they stick out to far, I need somehow to pull the fenders out and make a flare out of the top of it, but it gets a lil difficult with the plastic trim pieces on the lower side. So how can this be done? or is there after market flared fenders I can get to help me out? or should I just find a good body shop to flare it out for me? I dont want stick/riveted on flares cause to me that doesnt seem like it would help to much, unless you cut the fenderand add those to it?

Well I seen some places only charge 40 bucks a fender to roll, and if they just keep going to flare it out, it still counts as a roll right? LOL

They all stick out the same for front and rear, just different angles show it differently I say from 1/4"-1/2" or so.

Talk to Mavisky about this. He did this on his 1g using Datsun... 240z I think fender flares. I was going to replicate the work on my 2g and then ended up paying a guy to do custom metal work instead to flare out my fenders.

And how did that work for him? My though with flares though is they just stick on and add width and look, but not functionality, unless I am thinking of somthing different. ( I do come from a heavy offroad background and they use a lot of flares like that to protect from debris and stuff). And If you dont mind me asking, how much did your metal work cost? I know it wont be the same, but to get a general idea...

He did it to accomodate wider tires as he was racing his car. I bet if you do a search for fender flares and his username as the poster and you'll see what I'm talking about. I think he documented his process in the forums but it's been years since I was looking at that.

You're right in that cutting of the metal is required to allow suspension compression with wider tires. Flaring by just trying to deform the metal isn't really possible on the front due to the shape of the fenders, and in the rear impossible as the fenders are attached to the unibody. You're pretty much left with cutting/welding a solution, and either doing metal work to make it look nice (like I did) or having a fender flare bolted over the ugly metal cutting :)

I paid a guy I think like $1600 including painting. He did this out of his garage. The shop he worked at wanted like $3200. It's not cheap.

I searched him, but didn't find anything, and a lot of his older stuff had red x's in them. And damn that is a lot, I was reading somewhere thought that if you use the fender roller tool, like after you finished rolling that edge up, that you can keep going and flare the metal. I really dont want to cut up my metal though, maybe I can get some front fenders for cheap, but then I am stuck with the cut back ones..

You might be able to get some aftermarket fender flares somewhere online. They probably won't fit well but thats when you need to do some work yourself and do some custom work :thumb:

I like them. They look good on there, and size wise I dont mind. It is just the offset that I don't like.

17x9 +24mm offset - 275/40-17 Falken RT-615's.

That is pretty wicked. I like that look, but idk if it would go with my car being a street car, I think it ties in better with yours cause it is a racecar, well more racecar looking than mine atleast. Are those the 280 ones? I am looking for soemthing that looks more stock. Just a lil flare in the back is needed cause I lowered it quite a bit, but the front still needs a bit more of a flare. Also I dont have it low enough to tell cause of my goofy C/O conversion shocks.

Ya I was thinking about that, but I dont have money as it is now let alone to be replacing the tires all the time, but I dont think it would take near that much camber as he has for mine to work right, maybe I will mess with it sometime just for shits and gigs. Also LOL at the second one, thats way tight! ROFL

i had a 92 accord with 18s and man would they chew the edge of the tires... so went on and messed with the camber and dam did it look clean... missed the fenders by like a hair... like no joke... now a little drop made it way sexier... since the wheels cave in once you drop it....

HAVE YOU TRIED DROPPING IT A BIT MORE TO SEE HOW MUCH YOUR WHEELS CAVE IN...

now mavisky has the wheels popping out more than you so you may be able to get away with just a little more drop and camber...

People call this "Hellaflush" it's a perfectly good way to screw up the suspension geometry.

Ya I had a gentleman PM me on AZAWD saying he can do it 50 bux per axle. Now I am hoping he means per 2 wheels as in a solid axle, and not 50 per halfshaft Axleshaft. :hmm:

Hellaflush is awesome. If it didn't chew tires and our wheels gaps weren't so oversized I'd be joining them.

LoL. i've seen Evos with 18x10 wheels and a 235 tire. Whats the purpose of owning an Evo if you can't drive it the way it was intended to be?
