I looked at my spare intake today and its for a earlier car I believe pre 91. Fixed tps and a few plugs are different like the ignition coil has different plug. What is the better set up? The previous owner has the tps all silicone and it's really hard to adjust it.

I bet that throttle body needed shaft seals, I know I have found 2 of my spare TB's that have the dam BISS screw siliconed in and it is just a dam o-ring that needs replaced. You need to be able to adjust it as close as possible to factory spec MANUALLY. The ECU depends on it. If you have ECMLink, you can do an offset to get the TPS to zero and 100%, but it isn't the correct thing to do. I use it only as a "fine" adjustment if my manual adjustment is of by a percent or so.

It must yes I did a leak test and that's my only leak it's right around the sensor that's what it's all gooped with silicone

I am all stock. What's the best repair? Is the older throttle body better with the fixed tps?

No. Your cars computer relies on the correct info from the TPS so you need to be adjustable. The Throttle Body can have its seals replaced. You can do it or send it off to have it done. Mine are also leaking but just above 30 psi. My car holds a rock solid 30 lbs boost, still not an excuse to not fix the TB. I have seals, just haven't had time to take it off and replace them. Usually, I have a spare on hand, ready to go but don't at the current time.
The TPS should read .63 volts with the throttle closed and 5 volts wide open, although the wide open can vary from 4.8 - 5. Its the idle voltage that seems much more important to the ECU. I have used a wire "tap" to put on the signal wire of the TPS to read voltage on a Digital Multi Meter or just back probe the signal line. There are 3 wires, 12v, ground and signal to the ECU.

Yes I have done that back probing with my multimeter but why is the older Tps fixed looks like a pre 91 intake has no adjustment. I have it complete to swap if that's a better thing to run at 10psi it's already leaking quite a bit I'm only on 12 -13 for now the ecu keeps hitting fuel cut

Post a pic of the TPS you're talking about. As far as I remember the 90 TPS is still adjustable, it's just 4 wires instead of the 3 on the 91-94. You might have something else.

Yeah, the 90s are just like 91-94 except they have a pigtail instead of a receptacle for a plug and all are adjustable. I think even the N/A cars are, so yes, can you post a picture?

Sure when I have a chance It's a dsm stock intake same lettering and ignition coil mounting. Just the tps is smaller and no adjustment just a fixed location with 2 screw

@BLACK'98DSM is better than me with any part that is possibly a N/A part.
    Thanks for jumping in!

Looks like the washers on those bolts are covering the slots.

Ok is it a better set up to run? My tps is leaking boost currently. all the silicone around it makes it hard to keep a accurate voltage at idle

No shouldn't be any better than what you have now. Your TPS is not leaking boost, the shaft seal behind the TPS on the throttlebody is leaking. If the seals have never been replaced on that 90 chances are it leaks too.

The shaft seals are relatively easy to replace yourself, but there are a few places around that offer rebuild services such as TMZ and throttlebodies.com.
