Fixed my boost leak, but the 14b still spools after 4k

I thought I fixed what seemed to be my only problem, but i guess not. I had a boost leak where i had my j-pipe, and i thought that was what was causing my slow spool, so I took it to a shop and they did a pretty good job of sealing it.

Its definetly pulls harder now, but the 14b still doesn't spool until 4k. I noticed that the lower heat shield was cracked and was wondering if the wastegate arm can be blocked by a heat shield? Even so, I already cut the heatshield for the WGA, but still nothing.

So at this point, im pretty aggrivated, its like waiting for vtec to kick in. Honestly, any help is appreciated!

i had the same problem with my 92. i found out that between the shaft play and a partially blown oil seal along with a cracked exhaust housing, all those caused it to hit full boost at 5.5k.

Ya could be a few things
1. bad turbo
2. cracked manifold
3. low compression on the motor
4. actuator out of adjustment

most likely the awful cracks that the 14b and td05 housings get

I'll check the WGA.

My 14b is off of a JDM VR4 Galant, and was pulled with less than 20,000 miles, so I'm hoping it cant be a cracking housing, its too soon.....

Did you repeat the pressure test after fixing of the j-pipe gasket? If so, how much was the system able to hold and for how long?
