I just bought a 1995 eclipse fully built engine with t-4 turbo... I actually have a few questions bcuz I have never owned a turbo car and I am trying to learn. The car has no wooshing sound coming from the bov. The guy told me that the turbo was to big for the car but when I bought it he said he didnt know much about the car because he collected it for debt from someone. I really just want the wooshing noise LOL does anyone have any suggestions on what I might do to see if I can get it to work. If anyone is around louisville if they could come look at it... It's really hard to tell bcuz the clutch is out but my bf is putting a clutch in it for me soon. I really have no idea and I just was wantin to see if any one may have any ideas on what I could check to see if I can get it working right. Theres alot of stuff built on the engine and im not sure how it all works or connects LOL we know a little bit from reading up on stuff on internet. I'm new on here and I really hope someone can help it would be soooooo appreciated....
Thanks n Advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well the air woosh is from air coming out of the pipes between the turbo and your engine, when you let off the gas. The air can't go into the engine because the throttle body is closed, AND the air can't go into the turbo (or its not supposed to), because it would damage the turbo. So it comes out the valve.

There are a number of things that may be wrong:

1. The turbo is huge, and it just isn't spinning because you haven't floored it for a long time.

2. The blow off valve isn't connected right

3. You have leaks in the pipes between the turbo and engine.

I think it would be best if you took some pictures, and even better, have someone local look at it. Also, read a lot on this forum. Also visit VFAQ Site - Visual Frequently Answered Questions

Or, most likely, cause your BOV is recirculated. Just make sure the valve opens. Even at idle, open the hood rev it a little bit/disconnect the hose if it is recirculated, the car will stall after that BTW/ and you will feel/if not vivsible-Tial BOV/, the valve releasing air...

assuming the engine bay is stock you wont hear very much sound at all...you should hear a faint sound if you hear carefully.

most importantly, make sure the valve is working correctly.
