First time DSM owner... need tuning help

Ok hey guys like they thread says i recently purchased my first 97 eclipst gst. It has a 6 bolt swap and is safely running 18 psi. Now im sure i can go up to about 22-23 safely on the motor the way he has it but I need help tuning this puppy.

It has a megasquirt ecu and the guy was tuning it himself as a hobby. Problem is he wasnt too great at it and Im not real familiar with tuning things on my own either. I am using Megatune and I am having a real problem with starting the car after leaving it for awhle (overnight). I have to crank it 3 or 4 times before it will stay on and from what i have read, i just need to work on the tuning but I would like some help. Im wondering if i post a quick vid and my current tune if maybe someone could give me some pointers!?

I cant post vids right now because I got an oil line feed leak (a pretty bad one, bad line) at my gf's so i left the car there until my new line comes in in about a day or two. Anyway once i get it up and running again ill post a vid of the idle which averages 1000-1100 (annoying) and the start up!

Also can you recomend some manifolds i use please! For some reason he didnt get those yet Thanks again guys!!!

Well, just from reading your post. Right now I can only comment on the cranking and start issue.

Could be a fuel issue. Fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, or just a leak somewhere before the injectors.

I'd check your injectors and look for any wet spots around them it would gather down below and be noticable. There are tiny o-rings around them where the plug into your fuel rail then work back from there. At the fuel line that joins the rail there is another o-ring on the hose to rail, and there is a copper crush washer on top of the filter. Then below the filter that bolt hook up there can be tricky. A clogged fuel filter maybe as well. Also on the fuel rail is your regulator, that is if it's set up with one still there. They have a diaphram inside that can get punctured and leak fuel back into your tank.

If nothing there you can then check the metal fuel line under your car as it runs back to your tank for any leaks.

No luck still? Then I'd look else where. Fuel pump could be weak but if your pushing 18psi already then I'm guessing you already got an upgraded/new pump.

I would first ditch MegaTune and get TunerStudio MS here. It's a better program and is a little easier to use.

Second, depending on which MS you have, you may be able to download a tune for it here. There are 2 tunes for a 4g63 on there, but they are for MS1, and I'm not sure if the tunes are interchangeable between MS1 or MS2.

Lastly, there is a support forum here. I'm not sure if they can help with the tuning aspect, but there is TONS of info on there that can help you better understand your ECU.

Ok thanks for the info! The injectors probably do need cleaning but i will check for leaks around the area, I know there are none coming from the bottom line going to the tank. And the pump is upgraded to a Walboro 190.

I will run some injector cleaner through it next time im running it. Does it hurt the engine running unleaded through it just for daily driving? or should i keep it happy with 93?

As for the tune links thanks allot! The ecu is an MS1 so those tunes should be perfect for me to work from! I will let you all know how it comes along next time i get to start her up.

I would only run 93 if I were you, especially with those boost levels.

ok thanks... I also think its about time i update my fuel pump to the 255... Im not sure if i should update my injectors also. I have the Evo 560 injectors on there right now. What do you guys think?

You will be fine on Evo injectors. I had a small 16g, with a walbro 255hp, and ran 24psi without maxxing my old evo 560's
