I recently had my GSX jump a tooth and mess up the intake valves (all of them), the pistons got a little beat but nothing too major.. What do you guys think about .20 pistons 8:5:1 with the stock rods? i plan to redo pretty much the whole head just seeing what i can do to up the HP a little bit without major overhaul

well, it sounds like youre doing a full rebuild...unless your just gonna toss some new pistons and rings with fresh head.

compression will help power and spool (increasing power as well) but it will make you more susceptible to knock and make tuning a tad more intricate.

8.5 is stock for a 2g. I'm assuming you have a 1g so yes, the compression would be a tad bit higher. Absolutely nothing to worry about IMO. Remember one thing, the stock 1g map is more aggressive for that very reason. If you have link then you could tweak timing where need be. But stock timing is very conservative so i think you will be fine regardless.

If you tear it down then drop it off with a machinist to mic everything and hot tank it. New rod/main bearings and all new gaskets. maybe a new front case if yours is super high mileage. Idk, but a good cleaning and inspection at the least. You want a good running car and no surprises when you get her back together.

Well the cylinders arent messed up at all just the intake side of every piston but i figure since its tore down i might as well go .20 over, new pistons, rings, polish the crank, ACL bearings, new gaskets top to bottom, MLS Head Gasket, ARP head studs, and depending on the condition of the head new valves, springs, and retainers with 3G lifters, Im dropping off the head and block tomorrow for inspection then im gonna go from there

It's what I'm doing, 1g rod 2g piston .20 over gonna use npr with new rings. All new bearings and gaskets, and I'm looking into getting my whole rotating assembly balanced.
