Firewall VIN Plate Replacement

So here's the deal. My VIN Plate on my firewall is faded beyond recognition.

Option 1:
I was wanting to know if there's a company that makes replacement VIN plates for our cars? I've been searching but can't find the answer that I'm looking for.

Option 2:
Is it illegal to make my own VIN sticker and cover up the old one with it? I can have one made by a local vinyl shop. I just wasn't sure it if was legal to do it this way.

It is only illegal if you put the wrong vin number.

My vin is faded too. Im pretty sure the dealership can re vin your cars but I bet its a process to do it.

The primary vin is a plate on the dash.

^^ this. we took the vin sticker out of the engine bay as do many clean bays...

I'd like to have that sticker tho because it has the color codes and such on it. Just good info to have on the car ya know?

Well like I said, I can have one made with all the codes and such on it, if I can get access to that information in the first place (build codes)...

Depending on how detailed you want it, most of that information can be had via CAPS or ASA after inputting your VIN.

You know the engine and transmission codes already, CAPS or ASA will give you the Model Code + Classification, Color Trim, Option Code, and Interior Code.
