there is a link earlyer in this thread that sells the #74 LED.... and i would recommend it.... because it's a pain in the a$$ to solder a resistor in the panel

hey Airpoppoff , how did you do that to your dash gauges? did you put LED's in the back of your gauge cluster? what bulbs did you replace? let me know how you did your dash gauges pleeeeeease! (speed, tach....)

thanks!

i got those #74 led from autolumination.com and they're not very bright. i don't know how it'll look on the HVAC but i tried one on the cig lighter and it didn't light up the ring, only the inner part, which will be covered by a cig lighter. anywhere selling brighter #74 leds?

wher exactly do you guys access the HVAC lights? took out the fornt panel which just snaps off, unscrewed the four screws but the thing still don;t budge help!

this is the light that lights the HVAC.

hey thats way bad ass i want to do that to mine how did you do the speed and tach if its stock gauges and what are the resisters for and what kind of solidering gun should i get

yea, how DID you remove that piece? I tried tiging the thing but it won't move, is there anything else I need to remove before I get it out, I just took out the four screws, they don;t seem to hold anything though, is it removed by pulling it out or by pushing it in?

Unless I'm missed it/can't find it; this badass idea should be posed somewhere in the tech forum cuz I know a lot of people are very interested...I know writing tech articles can be a pain, but it would make us all so happy.:D

well i installed these reverse glow gauges over the weekend:
http://machv.com/revingaugfac.html

the orange lighting of the number is yucky.
from what i understand it's an orange film on the back of the stock black-faced gauges?

for the little side guages, i took a razor to the stock ones and hacked them out. on various instructions i've seen, it says to leave the stock faces in place, but i didn't want to have problems with the needle clearance and the thickness of 2 gauge faces.

i didn't hack the tach and speedometer out because i noticed that the hole on the new face for the needle-stop was too big to hold the needle. i suppose i could close the hole up and cut a smaller hole, but i wanted to verify before i proceeded.

So back on topic (sort of). If I remove the stock black faces...no more icky orange numbers?

more on size 74 LED bulbs. i hear these replace the instrument gauge bulbs. is it the same size as the single bulb that lights up the HVAC?
what about the buttons, cig lighter, ignition ring?
i'm lookin at pickin some up. trying to find direct replacements if i can before busting out the soldering iron.

i've seen 2 sites that sell em:
http://autolumination.com/leds.html
http://www.superbrightleds.com/1157.htm

i've read the ones from autolumination aren't too bright. anyone tried the ones from superbrightleds? they have a specs page (although i haven't a clue how to read them).

and needle kits...how do they work and where can i find a good set that's easy to install?

I'm w/ him^^^^ While I can solder some LED's in as I've done it on my computer crap before, I'd rather just buy some lights that can be plugged in, call me crazy or something for wanting to do that, LOL.

What is the hvac? is it the instrument panel or what, and how do i get to it when figure out what the h#!! it is???? I just bought one of those kits off e-bay a couple of days ago, it was on $17.00 after shipping and insurance, and everything, once I get it installed, I will post on how good or bad they are. Also i will try and put up a pic of what they llok like before install, and then put a pic after they are installed later on.
