so my machinist is just about done with the build. everything is finished and he calls and asks what kind of HG i want. i say cometic, he tells me sometimes theres a wait on those so what about felpro. i asked and he said it can handle just as much compression as a cometic. its supposedley a decent HG. also he asked if i wanted arp main studs. i said absolutely we FN talked about this!! IF i dont get arp mains am i ok? ### he says a line hone will be necessary if we do that. i want it done right the first time so i told him do what you need to make it perfect. still should be around 2200 for all parts labor, im having entire longblock done btw. are felpros good gaskets?

Yea from what I have heard yes, I am about to buy one for my HG for my new 16g turbo even though I have a mitsubishi MLS HG in my garage. Only reason I changed my mind was because of this guy:

99gst_Racer

Check his build and progress so far and all he has run are the felpro composite HG and they have run fine for him with that much power. He sold me from being a super paranoid type of person on this type of matter to go with the felpro. Im about to run the same Felpro composite HG with arp Headstuds as well.

Just make sure he's using a FelPro MLS, not the composite. Also make sure he is capable of getting the surface finish on the block and head to 40Ra or better. And lastly, he needs to have a 4g63 torque plate to hone the cylinders properly for a high hp 4g63 application.

I have run only Felpro headgaskets in my cars, and the ones I repair. Always made good seal. I even reused one on a different engine, *was pre-torqued*. Still holding fine and that engine is in my GST. I would recommend them, except for pretty high hp car, above 400+ idk If id run it.

Doesn't NEED to be a MLS like I said the person I stated Before is running around 600whp Using a felpro composite HG just something to think about

def a mls, i asked for that if it was a felpro from the beginning. yes, arp head studs. im looking for 400hp for now. the engine should be built to handle more tho. god i hope this thing is done by next week. been 5 weeks now

The fel pro perma torque is the best out for the dsm's right now. I use them in all my dsms.
Also I would just do it once, do it right and do L19's or a1's.

Yea felpro MLS headgaskets are way good on dsms, I'm actually tearing my motor apart this weekend because I have a cometic MLS which is junk IMO and I'm goin with the felpro permatorque. ARP's are a must , go with either 2k or the l19's, or even the Map studs which claim to be way better but really are just a copy of the l19's . Make sure you have the block and the head machined for MLS headgaket if not is just a waste of time and money. Manley is making some studs as well look into those although they are a bit pricey.

he got the felpro mls and arp main studs like i asked. he will have to line hone it now tho. i dont care, i want this engine better than when it rolled outta the factory. its going to be done right the first time. damned business trip coming up, my luck, the engine will go back in the day i have to leave!!
