Fastest DAILY DRIVEN DSM?

Daily well if it has mods or not its still a car you drive everyday, everyone is going to have there owne idea of daily driver. Never met a dsmer with one any mods at all, and it goes on.

Every day for a week? And then what? it sits? If he always drove the thing, every day on the street to and fro, I don't see how you could deny that it was his daily driver. If he drives it more than anything else regardless on the fact he'd be shelling out major cash to keep filling it up with Meth it would in fact be his DD...

Now it is not a "STREET CAR" which is what I think people are trying to define which in itself is more debatable but to that argument I simply say look towards your track rules that define a "street car" and there's your answer.

Eh, its just something to pass the time I suppose.

It appears you got my point. But as for that week it would be a DD, therefore categorizing it for at least that period as the fastest DD. In the end I'm agreeing with you :rocks:

What if you drive one car to work and as soon as you get home you drive your talon at night....every night. Is the talon the DD or is the car you drive to work????? You can try and make it black and white but it's not. What if you don't drive everyday what if you don't even drive to work like I took public trans to work every day for a while does that make the train my dd???

Sly attempt at sarcasm has failed...

We are adults, we can simply comprehend that your daily driver is your main form of transportation, regardless your train analogy has zero bearing as in the basic fact, you don't drive it. So yes it is your daily form of transportation but c'mon..

I am sure that would be one of those rare occurrences but I know no one who has a car they daily drive and then drive a different car at night, every night.. But in that RARE occurrence I suppose they have 2 daily drivers or I can be a smart as and say "Its driven at night so it doesn't count unless you drive it during the day. WTF

Anything can be argued if someone is stupid/bored/motivated enough to do so. Sounds like the majority feels the term is generalized as being your main vehicle. that you use to commute with. The argument isn't how often you drive it or when you drive it. The argument is if it needs to be categorized and classified specifically which your assessment doesn't touch on at all.

No one else is arguing the point you tried to make.

I simply don't see how I could tell someone who puts 60 miles on their car daily that its not their daily driver because they have a harness.. I dunno, sounds a bit far-fetched.

I'm not trying to argue anything I'm just trying to show you how stupid it is your even wasting your time continuing to argue a point like this. We have debated much more substantial stuff before you and me. I don't care what you or the next swinging dick calls a DD. To be honest who cares who the fastest DD is. I don't care what anyone does with their dsm when they aren't racing. just my .02. Continue to argue it if you want but I don't see why it even matters.

I would love to have a roll bar in my dd just for head turning factor

this is a tough category......

-daily drivers don't run on slicks
-don't run on race gas
-in most of the country don't run on E85
-don't have rollbars or cages
-don't run NOS
-don't run small batteries
-don't run 3100 Pressure plates
-dont have one seat
-don't have 5 point harnesses

and on and on. So, yeah, what's a daily driver?

Guys that have 7 second Mustangs think they have daily drivers....cars can barely turn...

Says who? =P

Roughly drive the car 3-350 miles each week.

Also run a Excedy Twin Plate Clutch :x

Actually going to work in about 10 min with it!

I can tell you two facts from reading through this thread...
  1. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and they all stink! :D
  2. Phil1/4mile hates E85!
I'm joking about everyones opinion, I think they are ALL important but without set guidelines to what a DD should be considered then your just shooting in the dark looking for an answer. To the OP, make a list of what YOU would consider a DD as far as modifications (and fuel used) go and how often the cars driven and then someone can atleast post a DSM within those guidelines. Of course everyones opinion about what a DD is will change but this is your thread so set the guidelines of what YOU think a DD should be considered.
:dsm:

Ps- I don't hate E85--I respect it. But, until it's available at all pumps, in all states, country wide, it's still an alternative fuel--using the term "fuel" loosely here. Furthermore, if I have to toss 1000cc injectors in my car to run that liquid corn, that doesn't really fall into MY opinion of daily driver.

^^^^^ It's about damn time. LOL

about time I understood "Daily Driver" or about time someone fed TSimage his own E85?:D

Says who? =P

You live in FL. You can do that. However, it was cold down there over the last few days, how'd your car start? People who live where theres 4 seasons, well, maybe 2.5 seasons now with global warming, can't do that.:D

So why even enter the thread so obviously entitled, "Fastest DAILY DRIVEN DSM?" and then proceed to post in it throughout the thread? :hmm:

sounds like it all could have been avoided by simply ignoring a thread that you say you have no interest in its contents..

Just an observation.:aha:

Car started perfectly fine. :p

Also, adding that I have driven to DC/Virginia and been there with 20 Degree weather and the car did not hesitate at all to start.

Not the fastest, but my gsx does low 11's on 255/40/17 falken fk452's w/ 36psi in the tires.
I drive it everyday, everywhere For a year and a half now.
Pt6262 30psi, e85,2900lbs full tank of gaswith me in it.
Only have a dash, two buddy club bucket seats, five point harnesses no factory seat belts. 8 point cage. Honda size battery. 6 bolt block with evo8 pistons , 99' head with web 272's , evo8 valve springs. drive it to the track, drive it home. Street tune with link v3. Welded center diff, gvr4 gear sets with evo3 2nd gear, evo3 5th gear. No power steering, no a/c .

Just sharing. I'm not the best driver either.

Edit: I just noticed this thread is old! Ha!

:hmm:, I may be in the running.

Mr. Peepers would likely be up there, his HX-35 auto 1g on a stock motor was doing mid-10's on street tires. That is his full-time daily driver. (I think he has a backup Subaru legacy from the 90's as well for DD use when the DSM is down.)

Damn you Tim you beat me to it!! I was gonna throw Peepers in here.. Speaking of, we just got his car back up and running yesterday with Kennys old shortblock! Still a beast!!

Me too! Well not the fastest... but it does ok...currently traps 106.7MPH in the 1/4 @17psi, and I drive it everyday, as well as make regular trips back and forth form Detroit to Chicago. 93 Pump gas, Full interior, all options still intact (except a/c because I'm too cheap to replace those parts). Currently trying to tune it for 24psi.. so we'll see what happens then. :)

so if I purchase a 2012 Hyundai accent, drive it twice a week because I don't wanna put miles on it. and decide to drive my 1997 230k miles mirage as my work commuter ..... does that make my accent a non street car?

I don't think i can daily my dsm anymore because im not sure how everyone else does it regarding the fact my car makes 750 im not going to drive it around cruising at 2k rpm i want to floor it..

You can floor a 350hp dsm all the time and be fine i guess.

I dunno, to me it seems like a car with no creature comforts is not a DD. You start running twindisc's, dogboxes, removing power steering, AC, cruise, sound deadning and your entering street legal race car territory.

So a bone stock miata can't be called a daily driver then I guess? IMO, A DD REQUIRES heated leather seats and Ford's park assist feature and a backup camera too LOL.

I have no PS, A/C, cruise, exhaust, rear interior, etc and it's the only car I drive in the summer (other than when I have something apart to make it faster or better).

Why would cruise matter? My truck HAS cruise, and on an 850 mile 1 day trip I never used it once. Old cars didn't have all the crap the new ones do, but people weren't too up tight to drive them.

I drove my 2G with NO REVERSE every single day for quite a while (got more skilled at parking every day that I drove it).

I think it depends on where you live. A twin disc and dog box is fine if you live in nowhereville, but try that in downtown rush hour commuting and I'm sure it would get tiring really quick.

Cruise does not matter, neither does AC. My 89 Colt never came with any of those things from the factory. LOL. I guess I was driving a race car. :sosad: :p
