Well as the title states everytime my rad fan tries to turn on it pops the rad fuse, I've replaced it twice now and it keeps doing the same thing everytime,??? any ideas on what would be making it pop? One friend suggested that the fan might require more power to run but that would pop the fuse I have between the fan and the fuse box?? thanks guys

you should check for a short but till then just put a stronger fuse in it,and see what happens. sometimes dsm's are just ####ing with you :/but it should not be to hard to find so GOOD LUCK

no, DON'T put a bigger fuse in there. fuses are made for a certain amp. if it's popping, there's a cause of it. a short, or if it's a new fan in there that ya had to wire up, maybe the wiring is wrong. if you put a bigger fuse in, the fuse won't pop. the fuse is there to protect whatever it is there for (radio, wiper motor, etc.) and a bigger fuse will cause that particular item to burn up instead. find out what's causing it and get it fixed.

i had to go with a slightly bigger fuse for my fan and it worked so do whatever you want, just be sure to look for a short

well, we don't know if he's using an aftermarket fan or not. but he shouldn't need to go to a bigger fuse. and yes it may work by putting in a bigger fuse but it's asking for trouble. it's like buying an amp for the system ya have in your car and taking out the fuse to put in a bigger one. if there's a problem, instead of the fuse popping, ya may just end up having the amp catch on fire. could just even burn up the whole wiring harness. i'd take popped fuse over something catching on fire any day of the week....and yes, i've seen that sorta thing happen. it's your car though. not mine. :rocks:

don't put in a solution that won't work, find the problem and fix it

and respond to your post! we need to know if it's stock or aftermarket fan, if you reverse the pos/ground on an aftermarket to make it blow air the other way it WILL pop the fuse every time.

ok sorry i should have been more specific its the flex a lite, it was working fine for about 2 weeks when I accidently touched the power wire of my stereo system to the block and it of course popped, after that it hasnt worked since, the fuse between the fan and the power is fine, it hasnt blew yet??? thanks for all the advice guys!! btw I also check the terminal in the box where the fuse is supposed to go and it was getting like 12-15 amps at moderate temp, I didnt want it to get too hot,

so you touched a wire from your stereo to metal and since then the fans haven't worked? if that's the case, obviously the wiring system ties in together. start looking around for any wires having to do with the stereo maybe touching bare metal. maybe get a wiring diagram. it's gonna be hard to pin point it down for ya. you're gonna have to have a wiring diagram possibly and a multimeter. check for any wires that may have gotten hot and melted, etc. bout the most i can tell ya. but obviously, putting in a bigger fuse isn't a good idea. something caused the problem (you grounding out a power wire) and now stuff isn't working. also, try maybe disconnecting the fan and running power straight to the battery just to make sure they still work.
