I know the factory gauge is very inaccurate but does it normally read to low or to high? by the way I have a 1g dsm

It works sorta like OFF - Semi - ON!!!@@#$@!!

Basically it goes from Idle where you are below 0, to Accelerating and getting boost (Semi) to Pegged (Your turbo as hit fuel boost) Often it will be pegged long before full boost. Even at factory boost mine was showing 14 psi all the time when I mashed the go pedal.

HC is correct. The Gauge only -estimates- what the ECU THINKS is in the system judged on what the MAF reads. It neither reads high or low, but to be safe you should assume that it reads lower than what is really in the system.

Get yourself an aftermarket gauge and you'll be golden.

Thanks for the fast response

I was thinking about mounting a gauge on the a-pillar, is there any gauges or mounts you guys recommend?

I have the glowshift one from ebay, I personally love it, but some people will hate on it because its from ebay. you should definitely get an illuminated one though, otherwise you will not be able to read it at night. and gauge pods are for sale all over the place, and they are all about the same, just get one that is model specific

IF you want it to light up when your headlights are on, wire it into your headlight switch. It's really not all too hard.

But yeah, just get a decent gauge, anything is really better than the stock POS. Get something you like.

Personally I would keep it off the a-pillar, it just looks a little tacky to me. I love the center vent mounts though. This VI center vent gauge bezel is high quality and includes mounting brackets. No tape or glue required. A lot of other sites also sell cheaper ones that you can glue in.

I would like it illuminated but only if the light shuts off when my lights are off.

Follow the instructions here, VFAQ Gauge Dimmer Switch Connection. Your gauge lights will come one when you turn the factory lights on and you can control the brightness with the dimmer switch. Very easy to do.

do you think I need a a/f ratio gauge if I increase boost to about 15psi?

An a/f ratio gauge is completely worthless. A wideband 02 sensor however would come in handy so you can tell when you are running out of fuel but they are really useful when you get into tuning and modifying the fuel tables.

Autometer is the gold standard for entry level gauges. Above that would be Prosport. On up a bit more is AEM.

I had a Glowshift and it nice and flashy but, widly inaccurate, and it failed after about 3 months of boosting.

If you get an A/F gauge get wideband otherwise it is just for looks really.

I think I am going to go with Autometer gauges for now, but I'm still not sure how I want to mount them, anyone have some ideals for mounting? I don't want to mount in my vent because I use it, I was kind of thinking about using the a-pillar but I'm not sure.

Get good things to begin with and it will save you money down the road. Boost gauge because I doubt you will ever go over 50 psi and it comes with a 5 bar map that you can log with DSMLink and the wideband you dont really need a gauge if you have DSMLink and dont need the visual effect of a gauge to look cool.

I personally dont use any gauges, just log the map sensor/wideband on link.

I mounted both my Wideband and Boost gauge on the dash bezel
I hope you can see the picture clearly

^ They don't make dash bezels for 1gs. Pretty much your only options are a-pillar, center vent, or under/above the radio.

The center vent one I linked above still leaves the center open for air to come out.
