Hey guys, I picked up a turbonetics 57 trim the other day that is dsm flanged and was wondering if anybody knows if there is an adaptor for an external wastegate that can be bolted between the turbo and the mani? The wastegate flapper is extremely welded on the 57 trim and I only just bought a new o2 housing and tubular manifold like 7 months ago so I dont really want to have to buy a new one again...is there such a piece that is dsm flanged? I have found some dsm to T3 adaptors but that is about it, pics of turbo are in my photos if anybody wants a peek,Thanx -Gary

I've never seen an adapter like that before. But those type of adapters make the turbo sit several inches lower than normal, which can lead to issues with exhaust routing and oil drainage. So I don't think an adapter like that would be the best solution for you.

If it were me, I'd have someone weld on a flange on that manifold to mount the wastegate directly to it.

Thanx Paul, that was another option I was looking at, I didnt even think of the fact that an adaptor would make everything sit lower, thanx alot, and good luck with the new compound setup, it looks like it is produce some good grunt!!-Gary:thumb:

edit:with the flapper welded, that makes it a no go for an o2 housing external set up doesnt it? Because an o2 with a tial v-band is cheaper than buying a vband with a new mani, it would take a tonne of drilling to get the flapper off...but if o2 housing will work even tho flapper is welded I will go that route, but to my understanding it has to be a mani external if flapper is welded...can somebody confirm this for me please

not a bad idea to make an adapter but you would also be making the turbo further from the engine so it would end up hurting spool as well. If there is a local shop to you that does fabricating it should be nice and cheap to get a flange welded on, or you can get interesting and change out the turbo housing to one with an integrated waste gate flange if you don't want to have to take off the manifold.
