many people like the apex-i N1 catback and turboback products...

also, for the cost-concious consumer I would recomend going to your local exhaust shop and having them make you a 3"exhaust system (mandrel bent) w/ a good brand-name muffler like magnaflow/borla/flowmaster/etc... This will sound just fine! I love how my magnaflow sounds

Would there be much of a performance differance in doing it the way mentioned above rather than buying a full N-1 exhaust or something like it?

Add shipping and then you will see that it will be higher than the price that I found.

Yeah but not online yet. The 2G's are a hell of a lot easier to make exhausts for. The 2G AWD especially. It's more or less a straight shot.

Knowing how to weld, having a lift so you can stand underneath the car, and having all the parts ahead of time are pretty much are all that are required. Just get some 5/16" rod to bend and use as your hangers.

It is a pain in the a$$. The question is: Is it enough of a pain in the a$$ to just let someone else do it. My answer was no. I wanted exactly the specs I wanted and the only way to get that was to build it myself.

How does the custom setup sound? What kind of muffler did you use?
The N1 is my favorite exhaust on the market but the one I was going to buy was used for a year and a half... that's just too long when I could buy an unused one for $490.:dsm:

Well what is the total with shipping. I paid $450.00 before shipping for an n1 exhaust for my gsx. After shipping it was $500.00. Now can someone beat that!

A new company that was just building clientel. His price now is $535.00 shipped.

I just bought the HKS Hiper 3" system. It looks very similar to the N1 but it has a quieter chambered muffler. It growls w/regular driving, but when I get on it it's got that nasty-sick turbo sound-I love it.

honestly you will love the thermal cat back, my exhaust is a *true* 3" from the turbo all the way out. and its very quiet at idle sounds likea rx7 not loud or ricey under boost and its all stainless

I know alot people like the n1 but geez man you can a complete turbo back with o2 eliminator down pipe for the same price from RNR racing. If you want a good exhaust for price go to rnrs web site. The n1 is good and all but your paying for the name. I just couldn't spend that much on a cat back when a complete exhaust is the same price. Go and price down pipes, offroad pipes, and o2 housings and you'll see how much you can save. Bottom line is if you want buy name brand so you can say you have Apexi exhaust then the n1 is for you. If you want performance get the whole exhaust for the same price from rnr. That's my opinion

I built my own 3" turbo back that sounds better than the N1 (in my opinion) for 400. Got anything else to brag about? :D
