I don't know if I asked this before so, here goes: Can I upgrade from 2.5 inch to 3 inch pipe with no problem or will it too big and cause problems???? thanks

Why would it cause a problem, people do it every day.

Depending on the setup you could see boost creep, but if you're running a good 2.5 system I don't see why 3 would cause issues.

thanks for the input, I have another question; I bought a test pipe on ebay that I have been using, (I'm hearing 2 different sides on this) but I would like to know does that act more like a resonator than a cat?? I'm confused

A test pipe is a hollow tube. It is in no way a catalytic converter. It is simply a hollow tube you bolt in place of your cat.

You should either give a link to the seller who will hopefully give more info or you should look into it and see if it's hollow of not. A cat will have a thick honey comb of holes so that you'll only be able to see some light if you look straight through.

Failing that, how much was it? A cat is obviously more expensive than a test pipe.

I'd recommend getting a real high-flow cat for street use. Its illegal to run a straight pipe except for off-road.

3" exhaust is fine...as long as its installed properly. Go to a shop with a good reputation (not just an in/out muffler shop) and be sure you get a mandrel bent system that is fabricated to be bolt-on with flanges. don't accept a completely welded setup...its a PITA to remove if you need to get it out.

I recommend 3" mandrel bent with the Magnaflow straight through muffler. Not too loud, great performance.
