Well obviously since this is the newbie forum I do not know a whole lot about modding my DSM. I have turbo eclipse...evo3 16g turbo upgrade, cool air intake, apex N1 exhaust, and several other small mods but I want to upgrade my stock exhaust manifold and am a little confused cause I have been reading about headers, and then theres turbo manifolds etc....Are these all basically the same thing or since I have a turbo is there any specific thing that I should be buying?

After many months of being a lurker and searcher on DSM Tuners, I think I have enough knowledge to answer this question. They are both basically the same thing, they both feed super hot spent exhaust gases to the turbo, the only difference is the "manifold" is a cast piece that closely resembles stock, they are usally black "flat" pieces. While a turbo "header" is normally made out of tubing and looks like a crazy maze. Both can be used with internal and external wastegates, both can have T3, T4, etc. flanges. I know there are different flow rates and sizes and all that good confusing stuff, but I don't know that much, but personally I prefer the stock look and went with a 2g ported. I've also heard good things about the Evo III manifold also. I hope this helped. :thumb:

Best bang for the buck? Pull your stock 2g Manifold and have it ported to increased exhaust flow into the turbo. It's been proven to be a sufficient upgrade for quite awhile on most smaller turbos. As for the tubular ones, some people like them, some don't. Some say they crack too much 'cause they're thin and what not. I've seen one and after about 25m of spirited driving you can practically put a lamp shade on it and use it as a light bulb. They get to glowing like crazy compared to the cast 2g manifold. ROFL I would say you're probably good to use that 2g manifold if ported unless you're going with a big ol' turbo and external wastegate.

Manifold and header are just two terms for the same object. As stated earlier, the best bang for your buck will be to have yoru 2g manifold ported. I wouldn't do anything more than that to begin with, because unless you have a ton of mods done to your car, an upgraded exhaust manifold, or even a tubular one isn't even worth the money spent. Personally I'd recommend just porting your existing one (as previously suggested by mach4g63t) and lookin into fuel mods, but more importantly, a way to tune your car. You don't have anything listed in your profile. Are you running stock pump and injectors? Do you have a logger/SAFC, or Link? Any way to tune? You'll max your 16g before you need to upgrade your exhaust mani.

If you had more injector you could definitely run more boost. It wouldn't be adviseable to run anything larger than 650's with that SAFC II.
