I was looking at Evo tuning.. I was bored... and I stumbled across something that they use a lot as a logger. It is called EvoScan. I went on the web site: http://www.limitless.co.nz/#SupportedVehicles, and it actually says it works with our cars too and any mitsubishi up from 94 using the "MUT/MUT-II/MUT-III protocol" for the logging... This logger logs everything including knock sum.. would it be possible that because this logger uses the Mitsubishi protocol and not the generic obd protocol that it can log things that the other generic obd2 loggers can't?

For you 97 2g people out there if you have any questions let me know. I got mine this weekend. Havent had a chance to do much but I can say that it does work for 97's. It logs knock voltage, it works at the higher baud rate, and I think thats all of the questions I saw. ;)

What sampling rate? For example, I could get 10-11 samples per second on my pocketlogger. Any numbers for EvoScan? What about other things like LTFT Lo/Mid and IDC?

I know those things work on my 98.

It logs pretty much everything you need and dont need. As far as sampling rate I havent done any logs with my "Real" notebook just one I bought to use with the wideband (p3 600). I'll do that tomorrow morning also. Would do it today but today is a busy day for me. If I get back home in time I'll post a log so everyone can see what gets logged.

Thanks! What's weird is that it shows three LTFT values (Lo/Mid/High). I thought 2gs (and 1gs) only had two LTFTs. And it shows the exact same value in your image for all three. Wonder if they are actually the three different LTFT values, or it's just replicating the current LTFT. I like the name of STFT (Oxygen sensor feedback trim)...good description.

Of course, that's from a '98 (unless you have a different ECU).

Here's a picture of when I was actually driving the car and datalogging. There's a function column and than a reading column. The reading column s actually what its logging at that particular time. The function is just that. It is a formula that EvoScan uses to calculate all of its parimeters. I know your asking for a 97' but i thought this might help you somewhat. I wish i could make the picture bigger so its easier to see but i understand rules are rules. :dsm:

Has anyone tried using Evo Scan with the Multiplex OBD2 translator hooked directly to a laptop? I think this would work, but would just result in a slower sample rate. Can anyone with ES and a MP X-lator confirm this?

So, any new discusion about this program? I see that you posted the screen shot of it working, but does it show a graphical display that is eaiser to read quickly? Also does it actually detect knock? I am ready to get it for the spyder and I plan on uping the boost, but I want to tune for 0 knock.

You can set up gauges (and make your own too) so that they can be used to display perameters in real time. Or you can graph in real time also. Both of which can be used to replay your logs. No it doesn actually detect knock. Only DSMLINK can do that. But it is a good alternative. The only problems I have had with it is my sample rates were slow. About 4 per second sampling 15 data items. I thought it was because of the laptop (p3 600) so I switched to my main laptop (core 2 duo t7700 (2.4)) it was the same. I think it was because of vista ultimate. I bought another laptop ( p4 2.4ghz) and using a keyspan multiport adapter and sampling all available data items and I get 8 samples per second. So Im going to trim some of the fat and see what sample rat i get. I emailed them about the issue and they were stumped. They said I should be getting somewhere around 70 - 80. Im going to play with the serial port settings to see if I can speed things up. Anyone else running evoscan with higher sampleratee then me please chime in.

I just received a USB to serial adaptor with FTDI chip inside from ebay (very cheap) and i attached to the 1G 12pin to serial cable that i build myself from a schematics found on this forum.
And i can tell you that Evoscan works with that setup on my '91 Talon.
I had to install ecuflash so it also installs the needed drivers but i'm very happy that i don't have to buy their cable that cost a lot.

Hope that helps to somebody.

Here's a picture of of it in use with some gauges:

BTW: This was v2.0. I have some newer/better gauges with v2.1 :thumb:

Everything sounds pretty cool. The question still remains for us Eprom guys.
Does anyone have direct experience with EvoScan working on 95-96 ECU's. If it works with 1g's/OBD1 then it should work on 95-96?
If not, it should be up for the 2.2 release.
I might go ahead and put up a new post specifically for 95-96/ Eprom guys.
