Have a trans from a 2g parts car that was built by RRE years ago (15) and it supposedly is all Evo3 gearing, as well as only getting 5k moderately driven miles with a t25 before the car was involved in a freak accident that harmed nothing but the roof.

Just wondering if there's an easy way to identify them, like the notches in gear teeth for stock DSM gears? I can always count teeth, measure etc, just wondering if there's a "guru" way of knowing?

I called RRE and the guy on the phone was...not very helpful, or even willing to listen. Kept telling me that the trans was prolly trash and that they don't even look at them anymore. None of which I asked, I just asked of they stamped/marked them in some way so I could indeed identify it as being built by them. Anyway, I'd appreciate any help!
 
At least you can count the teeth of 1st, 4th and 5th. They are different from DSM.

This has been my finding from researching, third is also different from what I've found. I'll be pulling it apart soon to have a look.

That's right. The 3rd too, The EVO 3 supposed to be one tooth less. Sorry I skipped to write the 3rd gear. Only the 2nd gear has the same count as DSM.
 
Rather than tear it down you could put it in gear and rotate the input shaft a fixed amount and count how many rotations the output shaft makes.

True, but I also want to check condition of synchros and make sure no teeth are chipped. But I appreciate the input!
