I don't know if anyone's posted the weights. I could not find searching so here they are

The DSM stuff should be the same as the Evo3

Evo8 valve train on the intake side, Evo3 on the exhaust side

The scale is a paint scale thats made to mix automotive paint by weight so very accurate :)

No problem guys :).

Flyineagletsi as far as i could tell their physical dimensions did not differ just their construction. The Evo 3/DSM rocker arms are cast or forged into shape where the Evo 8 were stamped from steel plate.

Sirnixalot:
Thanks very much for the info, it's good to know. However, next time could you please upload the pictures to the site instead of using photobucket? That way in a couple of weeks, months or years, we'll all still be able to reference the pictures.

For longevity's sake, here's the info in the pictures of post #1 of this thread; all weights are in grams:

Evo 3 spring and retainer: 69.1
Evo 8 spring and retainer: 43.5

Evo 3 retainer: 13.6
Evo 8 retainer: 4.0

Evo 3 spring: 55.5
Evo 8 spring: 39.5

Evo 3 rocker arm: 44.0
Evo 8 rocker arm: 40.3

What about the evo8 sodium filled valves? Also, don't forget that the static spring weight isn't all that important, as the moving mass is dynamic.

Spring rate, coil bind, and installed height are way more important than the weight.

Finally, none of this matters if your not making power past 7000. read: have a bolt on turbo, small cams, stock IM, stroker ect...

But then again, what do I know. I have a n/t.

I realize the spring weight itself isn't really as useful as the above information but i had the parts and had a scale so measured them anyway. I do not have the facilities to measure the other measurements.

You aren't able to compare valves weights are you?

I won't be able to for a while. Car is being torn down, ring landings are toast.

If I can find some cheap Evo 8 valves then i will be able to do the weights.

I have multiple sets of Evo 8 Valves, at least one set I was planning on putting in my 1G head. good info on the weights. Thanks for posting. I'll try to weigh the valves when I get my 1G head torn down and compare to the Evo stuff.
